1. Do you think that everyone “can be helped”?

2. How many of your posts have you deleted today and why? Or do you rarely if ever delete posts? I deleted one post since I read what I find to be simplistic advice Earlier In the chain.. so I deleted my longer post. Also I don’t think the op would be ready to absorb, or respond, to my words (not that I require an acknowledgment...this was not in this forum. It’s actually a forum where I have been bitten a few times before (out of nowhere) (actively bitten I mean, not “just” overlooked.

Feel free to answer question 1, or question 2 or both.

I don't think people can be helped unless they want to be. And some do not want to be. Also, if you're talking therapy, you need to find a competent therapist who is a good match for the client. And that can be hard to find. Finding the right medication can also be a challenge.

I don't think I have ever deleted a post.

“not wanting help” can be a fact for some possibly...at a certain time... although being labelled in that way is harsh to the extreme.
Or it can be a misperception, no that has not been said about me.

I think anyone can be helped IF they actually want to feel better.

As for meds ??! I have a vast majority of meds over the years that either did nothing or the side effects were too much or actually harming my physical body.

Sure not having access to a variety of meds doesn’t make this easy but I truly believe a person can in many ways help themselves at least through Therapy , learning coping skills, eating good foods, sleep hygiene , mindfulness, exercise etc....

As for deleting posts? I’ve never started a thread and then wanted it removed. Answering on a thread? I will type it out and read it , I can be blunt and I’ll often soften the edges if need be.

I think a lot has to do with what kind of thread is it ?? Is it a vent thread ? If Someone just needs to unload and isn’t really looking for advice, that’s fine ..

I think if that’s what people are wanting to do then ... start the post with “ I’m just venting I’m not looking for advice I just need support.....then they receive words of support and hugs so the OP gets want he/she is looking for.

I think everyone can be helped meds or no meds. It just depends on the intensity needed. I think most get the lowest acceptable amount of care. I think most need a higher level of care then they're getting.

I try not to erase anything I have written. I try not to highly edit it either.

1. Yes. Everyone is capable of accepting help in some way if the conditions are right. The package help comes in can look vastly different from one person to the next and sometimes the recipient doesn't even recognize it.

2. I've never deleted anything and I only edit typos.

I believe even psychopaths can get better, again, given conditions.

I have never deleted a post, but I do fix a lot of typos with this darn computer I have now. What a lousy keyboard and a lousy operating system (W10--garbage).

Not everything is all about meds, and meds are not the Antichrist. I know some people's illnesses are med-resistant, but I definitely believe that some of those people could/will be helped in the future by new medications. Some may also be helped by other types of intervention, like therapy, ECT, or something else. I think many people abandon medication treatment pre-maturely or for reasons that many others wouldn't abandon them for. We're all different. I will say that when my brother-in-law convinced my sister that their youngest son's suicide was "inevitable" I had/have a major beef with that.

Sure I've deleted threads, deleted posts, edited posts, etc. A lot! When I am experiencing a mood episode, it happens most frequently. Disinhibition, impulsivity, desperation, excess irritability, all cause me to write and say things I regret. Sometimes I have a moment of insight and commonsense to realize inappropriate or overly personal communications.

I agree, not everything is all about meds. And some people do know I have been severely allergic to all the meds I have tried except for two., those allergies would be scary to most. And as I already have PTSD ....extreme repeated allergic reactions is not exactly helpful . In this forest they show little interest in offering me other help, I have been given different “reasons”

This is why I do not enjoy or appreciate a response advising meds since I’m pretty sure some already are aware of my allergies

I’ve been accused of repeating myself elsewhere but maybe I don’t “repeat myself” often enough

Or maybe I do need to put a disclaimer saying I do not want to have meds suggested. I have tried meds now for more than 6 years with “little improvement” and extreme negative effects.

I know *i* can't be helped thru therapy. I've had several shattering experience. Once i was in a park and a woman was sharing cookies with her friends and gave me one. That's the kind of thing that is helpful. Kindness. Evidence that the world is a good place and that people are benevolent.

Evidence that people are benevolent, I agree that is helpful.

I was going to respond to this yesterday, but somehow forgot too.
I don't think everyone can be helped. it's not always a case of people wanting the help or not, sometimes it's a case of what resources their are at this person's disposal, what the underlying issue is and what the person in question is willing to sacrifice to get the helpp

their might be lots of help out their for various disorders, but their's always going to be 1 or 2 people left behind.

and I don't delete my posts. their are posts I never read replies too, but I don't delete them

Many many do eventually ''give up on the system'' in this forest which has repeatedly harmed them
