Hey,

I often find myself being very self-critical and down on Mondays and sometimes Tuesdays. As the week goes on I usually start to feel better. On Thursdays and Fridays I am usually in a good mood. The problem is also that I tend to not realise that my bipolar is in action and I do, during these days, think that all the negative thoughts I have about myself are true! I find that working out and reading something really interesting helps, but that usually only happens after my work day is over. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

If you don't like your job, this is understandable. Mondays are tough for a lot of people.

This isn’t a Bipolar issue.

Do you like your job?
Do you not get enough sleep on the weekend?

I feel exactly the same. I'm not bipolar, I'm CPTSD, but sometimes I'm literally a different person by the end of the week, and I'm extremely aware of its causes.

Disliking my job, as others have said, yes.

But it's also that the negativity against myself wears off a little with every day and hour that passes (possibly because I get to see myself being OK at my job, and realise that nothing too terrible has happened).

Thank you for the replies so far. I work as a teacher in adult education and I like my job a lot most days. It's just that I often view everything in a negative light on Mondays... I work full time, 8-5

Perhaps this problem is universal but I sometimes worry that these negative Mondays are an early warning sign of an oncoming depression.

With my work, my week is from Friday through Tuesday. The days that sometimes put me in a mood are Saturdays and Sundays because there is no boss around and a lot of workers tend to slack off. I go for a long walk after work and check out some building architecture that interests me. It calms me down a bit.

There is a lot of self doubt with me going on when this happens. Is this a BP episode, or is this me being me not liking lazy people? When I'm shoveling snow for 4 hours and I see my co-workers watching videos on the computer enjoying a coffee and not lifting a finger to help out, maybe it sparks a bit of an episode.

What I do notice with having a physically demanding job, when I'm doing a lot of grunt work, I am in a better mood compared to when I have to do desk work, then I'm a lot more self critical.
