Has anybody tried neurofeedback for their bipolar symptoms? That was suggested to me by my insurance company. They also suggested TMS. Thoughts?

Hi Crook. I know next to nothing about neurofeedback and have never tried it. I've never had TMS, either, though I have read posts from people on other bipolar forums who have, and they found it helpful. Even if I wanted to try it, I probably wouldn't, because my insurance won't cover it. They only cover ECT and medications. Some of us are at the mercy of our health insurance companies, unfortunately. I hope your insurance covers it. Then you have a real choice.

Yeah insurance covers both at certain places. It was my insurance company that recommended it.

Im surprised you insurance company suggested this. Many studies have been done on the efficacy of neurofeedback and TMS and have found that neither has the evidence to support the claims it makes. Patients may experience positive affects but this has to do with their belief in the machines/processes, a placebo effect,.
