Last week was so bad it makes me dread my session tomorrow. I was already angry and she made it worse. She was 15 minutes late to add! AND she had a resting ***** face the whole session. I keep telling myself it isn’t me and that therapists are very stressed right now too. But deep down I wonder is it me it is directed towards or is it really unintentional? I am not always the easiest person to work with....hence the therapy!

Hi Bipolarchic14. Hopefully your therapist's lateness doesn't continue, but I know they can be late sometimes. Or psychiatrists, even more so.

If you have the courage, you could very gingerly mention your reaction to her serious face last week. I might say "I hope you are well." Or that "I feared you might be frustrated with me, or something." There's a strong chance it had nothing to do with you and that it was her issue. Either way, I'd think she should be grateful for the feedback.

I am not the easiest person to work with either and have had many therapists walk out on me- despite one convinced that he was going to eventually "break me" (as in make progress)

I usually have sessions in the afternoon. I'd hate them early.. bad start to the day

I'm a pretty easy-going person, not hard to work with, but even I sometimes become convinced that my therapist (and everyone else) hates me. For me it often happens during depressive episodes. I usually just tell my therapist about it, like Soupe du jour suggested.

I hope your therapy appointment goes much better this week. I feel a similar dread before an appointment.

i agree with the other wise and wonderful posters. So Sorry that things are being hard. Definitely try to speak about how you're feeling to your own therapist. Hopefully she will understand and perhaps try to reassure you. Please do not give up. Sending many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @Bipolarchic14, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!
Thanks for this!

The lateness drives me up a wall. The hope is that it's not habitual...maybe she had a rough session with the person before you (in fact, it sounds like that could have been the case). If it's a one-time lateness, understandable...some time it could be you who needs the extra time. If her lateness is habitual definitely talk with her about it.

Resting ***** face, now that doesn't sound pleasant, at all. Hmm.

I sure hope today's session is more successful. It probably will be. Keep us posted!

I honestly believe some therapists are told by higher ups at their offices not to show any emotion and always have a blank face while seeing clients. I’ve never seen my Pdoc even attempt to smile and I’ve been working with him for 2.5 years.

Except for one time when my therapist did laugh at something I said, every time I tried to make a joke I’d just be given a look of confusion or not even acknowledged.

Business in the front, party in the back for most of these people.
