Please don't move. I know the people here.

I was taken off lorazepam about a year ago. Since then I'm having 4-6 hour long panic attacks. My pdoc prescribed 15, 1 mg lorazepam. I took a lorazepam one day when I was having a panic attack. It took it away, but the next day I was really anxious. So I stopped them.

I'm thinking about going back on it. But ask for 60 .25 tablets. So I can take one when I get up and one when in the evening. What I'm afraid of is my body adjusting to them and my panic attacks coming back. He wont give me more.

If you were me, would you take the risk? I was on 2mgs of lorazepam before.

Which meds are you taking now?

If I were you I would discuss a low dose antipsychotic to reduce your chronic panic attacks.

From my experience with benzos, and considering the frequency and intensity of your panic attacks, I agree with you that you're looking at the problem of tolerance (needing more Ativan to have the same effect).

Another problem with benzos is that when you're taking them prn you're putting yourself on a roller coaster ride of emotional ups and downs.

What you posted ? Yes all that the Pdoc needs to know.. Its about Quality of life, If a person is having panic attacks on a regular basis then how enjoyable is there life?? I have been on Xanax or Valium daily for 12-15 years. My body is use to the med, So if i want to quit it will be a long process, " I " am not addicted to them as taking more than prescibed, That's the difference you need to keep in mind.

My Pdoc and T both feel Xanax is needed, Xanax is helpful when I have high pain also.

Theres lots of talk about how Xanax is bad and being on it long term can cause actual brain damage, But guess what?? so do all kinds of psych meds.

Buspar is another none Benzo medications that can help alot of people and its non addictive.

Just be open and honest with your Pdoc about how bad the anxiety/ panic gets..

What coping skills do you use when your having one???

Beth and I have both gotten solid anxiety results from Trilafon, just as another maybe, whatever, thought, or something
No SE for me at all. Been awesome. Cheap. Valium. Trilafon. Lithium. Sometimes the oldies are goodies.

I wouldn't but just because I wouldn't want to take more pills twice a day every day. With my cocktail, I'd just ask to increase my Seroquel or ask for more 25mg pills for PRN use because that does a good job at calming me down. If that still didn't work, I'd ask for PRN zyprexa. But that's just me- I find the antipsychotics to help me out a lot more than the fake "benzos" my pharmacy gives me.

I'm on buspar, gabapentin, visteral, zyprexa, invega. That's it I think. Yeah I think I've decided not to take them. Its unbelievable that I'm still having panic attacks when I'm on so many meds. But I am and they last 4-6 hours. It's pure misery....

I use counting, focusing on one object and describing it in detail, breathing. Those are what I've found most useful. I'm already on buspar.

Have you considered none chemical treatments like biofeedback, DBT, there’s more just can’t think of them at the moment.

With the exception of Invega, which I have not been on, I found the others you are on 100% useless for anxiety. Of course, that's just me.

What cyclist posted is truth - the old typical AP perphenazine (Trilafon) has been the most helpful med for extreme anxiety I've ever taken. I find that most of the newer meds are garbage. The older meds can be excellent, especially at doses that are not high enough to make you a zombie.
