I have schizoaffective bipolar type and I have been stable till just this past week and now I am manic and can’t sleep! The only change was me starting birth control pills to help regulate my periods, have the birth control pills trigged this? I am terrified I have screwed up! My life was looking hopeful!:

Welcome to PC.

I have had trouble with hormones affecting my mood in the past although mine was the mirena IUD. You need to talk to your gyn and pdoc to see what they say about this and maybe you need a different pill or something. Maybe it is unrelated. We can't diagnose here. But you definitely should get it looked into.

I hope you start feeling better soon.

BC pills can definitely cause mood issues. Also, they can interact badly with some psych meds. Please speak with your gyn ASAP. Good luck!

I second this but I'll add that you should also contact your pdoc after you speak with your gyn.

Welcome!! Yes. Please call both docs first thing Monday. Do not shop. Do not leave the house. Do not email or text unless you feel you may need crisis slash immediate help. You may not have accurate judgment now. Careful.
