It is a perfectly terrible day here anyway raining. Usually holidays are good weather. Don't particularly want to drive anyway.

No major Thanksgiving plans here. My stepdad has Covid, and I bailed on getting together with my dad and siblings because my son came in contact with 2 kids with Covid at school end of last week. So I'm just hanging of at home with my son and cooking dinner. This is the first Thanksgiving I've not spent with family. Sucks.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone who celebrates!
It’s my parents and one of my dad’s friends over today. I wish it wasn’t because I’m kinda sick (asthma, indoor allergies probably not covid because my inhaler and Benadryl help 99%) and I straight up don’t like the dude. Pro-holocaust type who brainwashes my dad. Very loud chewer too. Oh well.

So we've changed our minds. My kids are all doing their own things- N1 is staying at her place; N2 is going with her boyfriend to his parents' place; N3 is going to his girlfriend's dad's place. I am going to my mom's- just her and her husband and me. I'll drop off left-overs to N1 later.

I still get hot flashes. our AC went out on us 75 degrees in the house when it is usually 70, called a new company and will recommend them to every one they came out right away and it was a simple fix from phone call to fix was a little over an hour. great customer service! Butcher air conditioning. IT was all cool again by the time our company came over. We have a great unit.
Remero's does the maintenance twice a year but they don't service central A/C units which does not make any sense to me. We are switching to Butcher for the maintenance program too.
WE had a delicious meal, Jeff fixed companies coming chicken. not a heart healthy dish. But oh so good!
He had not made it for so long. 5 ingredients: 4 chicken breasts, butter, swiss cheese, and cream of chicken soup. and stove top stuffing on the top. delicious. We had invited a friend over, katherine from hong kong and jeffs graduate student. He is from Israel. Katherines fiance Paul is flying back from visiting his mom who has been put on hospice. Jeff is picking him up from the airport. and we will go over there for thanksgiving around 3 bringing a green bean casserole that we will make and bake over there, she said we will eat around 5pm.
My hair looks awful am going to curl it to see if I can improve the way it looks. don't want to take a shower. I just took one a couple of days ago.

happy thanks giving to all of My forum friends.

I ordered T-giving dinner from the nice local diner. It was delicious, plus I feel good for supporting a local small business when so many are struggling at this time. I enjoyed eating alone, not having to make small-talk, not swallowing every mouthful with my throat tight because there's tension in the air that won't ever be resolved due to it being uncomfortable for people to bring out, bring up, and work out.

Now I'm going to watch a movie. I think that extra boost of AD has (hopefully) picked up my mood. I feel like I awoke from a coma and our government has changed overnight to something humane!

Well my brother just didn't text at all or say anything. Just left me totally hanging. What happened to "Oh your nephew wants to see you" that he stated in 2011 when I decided to travel on thanksgiving. Honestly, it must makes it easier to cut him out of my life.

It sucks to have family that isn't worth your time...but that is what I have -- and I have always known it.

I did go out driving for 4 hours just to stay away from my home so my neighbors would think I did something. I came home just after dark so they wouldn't see me.

Over the years. Our gatherings have gotten smaller and smaller to just my mom and so today didn’t feel odd. I was pleasantly surprised by the parade, I expected much worse . I know it’s goofy for a grown adult enjoy the parade so much but it’s definitely in second place to the food for me hehe. I thought it was awesome they shared the parade with other groups who couldn’t have theirs due to Covid this year. That was a very special touch. I especially enjoyed the Native American blessing and also the cultures represented

I had turkey dinner with my mom and her husband, then went home and N1 and gf came over for pie. I wore my mask both places. They did too. Then we all got on zoom and talked with N2, N2's boyfriend, N1, N1's girlfriend, my mom and husband, and my sister and her family. Come to think of it, I was the only single person there!

I'm sorry, Natalie. That sounds painful. I, too, was concerned about my neighbors wondering why I was home. Oh, well, covid is a good excuse this year (even though I truly would have remained at home because of it).

Watched the parade then the dog show though it seemed like mostly I caught the commercials as I preped dinner. The main dish was a tiny pre-sliced ham so that just needed to be heated. Made the usual sides and forgot the sweet potato. They are rather large and mum and I were going to split one. We liked them plain, just nukeed. So it’s not as if it was a hard thing. After dinner mum was going to nuke some water for tea and found the potato sitting there forgotten was a good dinner then around 5 or so we had coconut cream pie with strawberries on it. Mmm

We had leftovers and it was very good. We had Turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry salad, my moms stuffing, my uncles stuffing, yams, a little gravy, broccoli casserole, my sister made a pumpkin pie for us, it all was very good. My son cheered up when we were eating. It was good to see him smile.

At both thanksgiving there was a lot of political talk. Everyone is on the same side so it worked out. The first dinner on Wednesday was a lot better. Everything was gluten free and gluten free stuff tastes pretty good. Especially like bread. My brother in law deep fried the turkey. The second one was just generic. Nothing special except my aunt made twice baked sweet potato's with goat cheese.

Yeah...I've been in that situation. It's not fun - but it can be something of a relief.

Kathryn really cooked a great turkey stuffed it with onions and lemons, she also stuffed the top layer of skin over the breast with garlic and other spices. IT was delicious. oh and had bacon on the top of it. she took it out of the oven and let it rest while she was fixing potatoes, brussel sprouts on the stick, never have I seen that before. Her home made gravy was delicious.
my green bean casserole was a hit. And the cranberry relish that I got from the deli at the fresh market I went to whole foods to pick up some beer. and saw some lingonberries in a jar and decided to add that to the cranberries. It was delicious. We got a compliment the next day from rob and his wife loved it(she is a nurse and had to work)so katherine packed up a to go container for her.
she had made figgy pudding, with carmel topping from scratch, very english type of dessert and turkey as well.
We were all stuffed we left around 9;30pm got there at 3.She had cheese and exotic salami and proshetto, olives for appetizers.
She was the perfect hostess. She served a different campaign with dessert. rob had brought an apple pie which was delicious. but I was so overly full. I was miserable.came home and got ready for bed at 10pm.
I kept waking up stiffling a cough would drink a bottled water then go to the bathroom to pee then fill up the water bottle and go back to bed cough then drink entire water bottle get up pee etc...I did this all night it seemed jeff got up at 7;30, I got out of bed at 1 am. had a cup of coffee, still in my jammies. going to take a shower jeff is meeting the guys at "twin peaks" like a hooters for lunch at 1pm.
I need to call katherine and compliment her again on the outstanding meal.
must get going

I had a great Thanksgiving with my family. My sister made turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, garlic green beans, rolls, corn. Plus she made a pumpkin pie, and a key lime pie. And also for appetizers there were deviled eggs, crackers with fresh blue cheese/raspberry preserves, other cheeses, prosciutto and salami rolled with cheese, some olives, black olives, cashews and other nuts. And we decorated these cookies she got from a friends bakery. They were autumn themed like turkey shaped, leaf shaped, acorn shaped, etc. I had a delicious cup of espresso with a frothed top from her new Nespresso coffee machine.

She sent me home with a ton of leftovers and a whole thing of eggnog. I got to see one of my nephews that I hadn't seen for a very long time. It was great being with family. We had a lot of laughs. Oh yeah, I got to see Maybelle again, their cat that's coming to live with me sometime next month. She's a torti and is so beautiful, she's an adorable little cat. And I got to see their huge yellow lab Zeus, he's a goofy dog, lots of fun.

It sounds like you had a spectacular day. How exciting about Maybelle! Aw, I'm looking forward to seeing a pic of her.

Aw, she's a smart cat. I'm a cat person from way back when, and Maybelle is the kind that will be loyal and devoted to you and to her home. She's beautiful, too.
