Currently, I'm listening to vehicular muffler sounds - the same sounds that go round and round all night every night until about 1 a.m., sometimes 2 a.m. It's annoying living downtown in a rural-like area. Instead of hearing multiple vehicular sounds that muffle each other out, you ear a very prominent vehicle that breaks all the ordinance (which never gets enforced), as if to protest law and order, among other things. I never noticed these sounds before the pandemic. This is one of my pet peeves that bothers me every. single. night.

My music therapist said that you can listen to some of their pre-recorded stuff. The lock means that you need to have a paid subscription to hear it, so you can avoid the ones with the locks to listen for free. Also, you can create your own soundtrack by combining nature sounds, like having birds chirping with a waterfall in the background - or something to that effect. We're still going through all the sounds and determining if ALL of my alters find it relaxing, or if some don't. Only the ones we can all agree upon make the list. It's a unique way for my music therapist to work with my alters and I.

The silent night sounds that aren't so silent, but they are soothing. I actually think it's more white noise from my air purifiers. But I'd like to pretend that the silent neighborhood means that the world is peaceful again. Ah, but then the building makes noises. I think it's people taking the stairs late at night. I live next to the stairwell, and I can sometimes hear it when people on the lowest levels use it. I can really hear it if they are on my floor.

And there's another muffler sound from that same loud car that keeps circling around our area at night.

I love this song. The title may be misleadingly "overly positive". But I think it's relatively a positive message. Sometimes you have to accept where you are, and it's what it is.

an except that I love:

"Sometimes a high wall, is just a wall
Sometimes it's only there to make sure you feel small
Or may be there to save you from the depths of a much deeper fall

The truth will not set you free
It's okay to believe that you're not good enough
God is not angry, not blind, deaf or dumb
He knows how far you've come."

Those lyrics may seem negative, but I think they aren't. Sometimes you have to resign yourself to understand, now is not the time to play brave. Save yourself the pain, and let yourself be where you are right now. "God is not angry, not blind deaf or dumb, he knows how far you've come" -- you've worked hard to be where you are, you will reach that goal one day, but don't push it.

or at least that's what I take from it.

Background noise:

1. Air purifiers.
2. Building noises.
3. Vehicular sounds in the downtown area.
4. Occasional medivac helicopters flying patients around when our hospitals become overwhelmed (which is frequently happening these days, as I hear more and more choppers every day).
