I think it helps us to remember that even some famous people have had our diagnosis. |

Maybe none of them have "come out," yet.

Nah, it’s just that I no longer know who the famous people are. Especially in music. Colbert was doing a sketch last night and I didn’t know any of the “famous “ people he was talking about. Pretty sure all of them were in music. I know the older folks on that list but not the young ones. I’m just old! 😃

Don't feel bad -- I didn't recognize a majority either and I'm only 30. I'm pretty out of the loop on today's trending artists .

Interesting list. I'm not sure about Brian Wilson (Beach Boys)...I think his actual diagnosis is schizoeffective disorder.

Carrie Fisher and Mel Gibson are obvious. It sucks that Mel Gibson’s career was basically ruined because of that rant he went on several years ago. So many celebrity’s who have had bad behavior incidents are given a second chance. Paula Dean, Martha Stewart and Michael Jackson come to mind Mel Gibson wasn’t though. Not that I’m saying what he did was right. I’m half Jewish and I consider it part of my nationality. But people have said way worse and their careers were fine after things cooled off.

I never knew Michael Jackson had an official diagnosis of anything, but now I do, it makes sense. I agree it’s unfair that some people’s careers can continue and others not after serious infractions.

I’m not sure Michael Jackson had an actual diagnosis. I mean it’s obvious he had something. But I just meant all those sleepovers he had with boys in the 90s didn’t derail his career

a fun fact about michael jackson is that his singing voice wasn't actually his own voice, his father made him sing like that his real voice was much lower.. I read an artickle about it |

what saddens me about michael jackson fans, is that they can't seem to keep his singing career and his personal life separate
he had (has!) a great legacy. loads and loads of good music, if people won't listen to him because of what he did when he was out the studio, well... I guess it's down to them- but to me I still love him for his music. I don't support what he did, but, I don't let it get in the way of the fact he's a great singer. |

I always just thought that he wanted to sing the same way he did as a kid- hence the high voice as an adult. Doesn't explain why his talking voice was so high, either.

In my book on him it says that was just his stage voice. Kinda like Gilbert Godfreys and the women who played Edith in All In The Family. They don’t/didnt really talk like that. MJ talked regularly to his family and in private.

I read something similar about Robin Williams in a biography on him, meaning that he acted a bit differently in private than in public. Apparently he was much more "normal" with friends and family, whereas in public he was constantly exhibiting a figurative "Star of the Show Syndrome", as I call it. And though he sometimes appeared manic, the biography never brought that up as a diagnosis. Again, I can't help but assume it was more the "Star of the Show" deal I referenced. Or even a type of anxiety, of sorts. He also abused cocaine, at times, too.

If I'm honest I hate when people say oh your bipolar just like Stephen Fry etc!! I hate being compared to a celebrity. They have all the money that they rightly earnt to get support the best support they can get. Where as us mere mortals can't.
I think it's wrong for people to assiciate people with Bipolar to a celebrity.... In my eyes (sorry!) Sent from my SM-G980F using Tapatalk |

Are you available to chat with me? I see you're bipolar. I'm trying to figure out if I am or not and could use insight from someone who has first hand experience.

Hi @bipolar2ornot - welcome to MSF My Support Forums. I am sorry you think you may be experiencing bipolar disorder. The symptoms of bipolar disorder are similar and overlapping to other diagnoses. Only a psych professional is qualified to tell you if you have it.
There is a quiz that may be fun to take on bipolar Bipolar Disorder Test | Psych Central Sometimes just chilling out with people in bipolar can let you know if you are among people that get you and what you are going through. You might want to post in the main bipolar forum and describe what you are going through in your life.
