Has anyone gone to the hospital for "solely" med management? Do they even do that without psychosis? The average stay is like 9 days right? Is PHP/IOP better for those types of situation? How do I go about finding a PHP/IOP? How do I make sure it's the closest hospital to home? Why does it always have to be Friday night when thing always suck? Guess 3 days no sleep for me.

I've gone to the hospital when I desperately needed med changes because symptoms were bad and my pnurse couldn't see me for weeks even though technically I probably wasn't a danger to myself or others.
If you haven't slept for three days and don't think you'll sleep anymore over the weekend, I'd say that's a valid reason to go and at least get assessed because things can spiral quickly. You could also go and ask for a referral to a PHP/IOP that does med management (the last one I went to doesn't but I've been to one that has). I'd say if you can find a PHP/IOP that does med management, try that first. You could also google "PHP's (or IOPs) near me" and see what comes up. Or if you can wait until Monday you can ask your treatment team. Keeping in mind a lot of programs are closed on the weekends too. Or you could call a crisis line and ask them for their opinion (but make it clear you are not an immediate danger to yourself and don't need anyone to come out to your house). If you do go IP, that's okay! It's better to go sooner than before your symptoms get worse and you have a longer stay in a harder to treat condition.

I was last in the hospital following my last child. She was two months old at the time. I had not been on the right cocktail for the longest time. It’s not because I didn’t have a good doctor or therapist. But having scaled down my meds to a minimum and being in my 20’s which seems to be when my bpII really took off. In fact before I knew any better I had a PA (from my OBGYN’S office )tell me that I should stop this or that med because of the pregnancy. No weening, no titration nothing. I don’t know is it’s that he really didn’t know how stupid it was to do that or that he just didn’t care.
So when my baby was 2 months old I went inpatient. I was there only 4 days. It was a miracle though they put me on cymbalta, geodon and lamictal. I swear to god in 24 hours I felt like a new woman. I couldn’t believe how fast it was and the treatment team couldn’t either. I was nearly desperate to leave but of course it was the weekend by the time we things kicked in and the hospital barely had enough social workers. But they let me out and I went home and continued with my doctor and therapist. That was 18 years ago and I’ve never been IP again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was able to sleep for 4 hrs and my world did not explode. So that's great. I'm going to try to get more sleep before it's fully day out. Please keep us in your thoughts. It's good to know you can go with out psychosis.

One time I needed a different med and my regular appointment was weeks away, so I went IP for only 24 hours to expedite a med change.

My preferred IP will admit for various reasons including needing med change. My pdoc works there so I see him while inpatient which I like him. Also the stay is less amount of time but they can adjust meds quicker because you are monitored 24/7.
Feel Better!

Thank-you guys. We'll see what the therapist says tomorrow. Hopefully there is an outpatient solution.
