I barely survived a birthday party for one of my friends.
It was at the tap room, a local bar.
I drank soda water all night, from 6-9pm
I had a sliver of cake which was so moist and delicous.
Things were tense one of my friends got into it because she accidentally touched him with her elbow. He threw a fit. I hate confrontation.
It makes me nervous.
As the night progressed Denise the birthday gal, said that the guy who drugged her last year was there with a woman who is not his wife.
Last year, he put something into her drink and she became trashed which is not like her. The guy said he would take her home. her best friend Kelli said no I will take her home. They argued about it, he got mad. Who knows what he would have done to her. kelli took her home. I got so anxious
some one bought denise another beer and she was not going to drink it.
I told jeff we have to leave now or I am going to drink this free beer that is so tasty. We left. I survived the party AF it was hard but I did it.

My weight was up this morning 187. Probably from all of the humus and buffalo wings I ate then the cake on top of it.does the soda water have sodium in it? I know it doesn't have any calories. I am down 3 pounds in one week. Just not drinking and watching my carbs. 4 of us gave up alcohol for lent but they all drank last night, I was the only one who did not. Denises real birthday is friday so they are bar hoping that day. I don't think I can do that. We'll see how strong I am feeling then.
They are going to have dinner at the adapted dog a local brew pup that just opened a month ago. They have good beer and food. A bit pricey but that is ok for good food and beer.
I may just join them for that.
The journey continues, I am hoping that no confrontations occur there.

I had better go finish getting ready for work.

Thank you so much for your support.
It means a lot to me. And you must know how hard that was.
alcohol kept my social anxiety at bay.
I got very anxious and needed to leave.
I felt like I was going to freak out and did not want to embarrass myself.
again thank you for your comments of support.

GREAT job last night, bizi!

Has there ever been a medication that helps lessen your social anxiety?

i dont know if anyone here would know that feeling better than me. i was a pretty hardcore alcoholic for about a decade, partially because i have a genetic disposition for it but also because of my BPD to quiet that noise that we are all so familiar with. it was the only thing that helped, and since i stopped drinking it has been at times very difficult to be in social situations without it! the only things that have helped me are thc gummies and non-alcoholic beer (i drink a lot of those!)

anyway, i am glad you got yourself out of that situation and it is wonderful that you could communicate those feelings to your husband! keep up the awesome work!

Dear beth,
Thank you for your support. I appreciate you.
I have never found anything for my social anxiety
I was prescribed .5mg
of klonipin in the morning but I have not taken that ever

I just keep getting a stash of it for when it comes the
time that my pdoc won't prescribe me the benzo any

more then I have a lot to help me get thru it.
what helps with anxiety that isn't a benzo?

Ron, Thank you for your nice support.
I appreciate you also.
I drink a lot of non alcoholic beer. It is called Partake.

I am having the gose one which is good. they have an IPA, pale ale, dark, red.
It is a great substitute
What do you do for your social anxiety now that you are sober?

oooooh i havent had a gose in years!! i've never heard of partake, is that a craft brewer? if i go to the corner liquor store i will get heineken n/a of budweiser zero, which are suitable for my alcoholic brain. but i was a huuuuge craft beer nerd in my drinking days so once a month or so i will go to the bottle shop and spend like $50 on craft n/a's - golden ales or IPAs or lagers, whatever looks good that day. i am very fortunate that i can treat myself in that way sometimes.

for my social anxiety i am in a place mentally now that it doesnt bother me too much but if we are hosting people or going out to an event or something i will usually take a quarter or a half of a THC gummy and that works wonders for me. i have some strategies i learned form my therapist too, but usually just taking the edge off in another way works the best (i understand that is complicated because it is essentially replacing one form of self-medication with another, but i don't abuse the gummies the way i abused alcohol so it works for me).

Congratulations bizi I would have been stressed too. I don't think I would have been able to stay as long as you did. Good job knowing your limit.

I hope your days are better.
Are you in temporary housing right now? and waiting for a house to be built or rented? Did you move out of state?
I have not been able to keep up with you.
It all sounds stressful.
Sending so grounding energy for you.

I'm in a rented apartment in my new city. I don't particularly care for it but gotta get use to it as it's my new home. We ended up moving from fl to way up north east.

MM,

Will you have snow to deal with?It sounds like you might.
It is difficult to drive in snow if you are driving yourself. which i don't think you are.
Are you unpacked so far.
Do you have paintings/ pictures

on the walls yet.

that makes it feel like home quickly.
((((HUGS)))))

Yes I have to deal with snow :'( Luckily I don't drive H does and there's a bus system which I haven't got use to yet. We're pretty much unpacked for what we have up here. There are some pictures up not enough though.
