Try to see the Blue Zones documentary on Netflix, even start and stop a subscription-it's worth it. There are a series of books on Amazon, but the Netflix documentary really make the message sing!
Blue Zones are areas around the world where people commonly live to 100 and ARE STILL HEALTHY AND HAPPY! You guessed it, these areas are not big cities, but the principles of healthy living for a happy life are universal. We can do this!
Recent years have been beyond challenging with covid and inflation. For those with mood challenges-phew! But Blue Zones has a detailled, structured life plan that we can adapt to our own situation in order to THRIVE!
Thanks to modern kitchen appliances, cooking healthy meals with hotpots etc is so much easier. I was failing in the areas of family/social network, pursuing a passion whether as a hobby or volunteering or work, exercise and taking care of myself instead of putting even the pets ahead of myself.
Blue Zones is a framework that can be adapted for anyone, even a co-dependent loner like me! Keep in touch and work on this with me. That will help us keep at it. With much affection, Val

I have not seen the documentary but I have read the materials and subscribed to the email list. The latest entry, a new Blue Zone, is actually a bit city: Singapore.

I saw some documentary on Blue Zones about two months or so ago. It could have been the one you mention. Certainly what's done and eaten in those places are excellent things. As a result, I restocked my pantry with more of the mentioned foods. I'm trying to create more meals focusing on them. As for some of the social stuff, it's harder, but in the good weather I like to garden like an elderly Japanese lady was shown doing. Now I have been dancing more as I cook.

I'm also switching to more whole grains and Mediteranean cooking, and fewer refined sugars.

My doctor told me about this documentary today. His point was in that in at least one Zone, people regularly take naps (siestas).
