I referred a friend to the psoc I was seeing. He’s leaving and apparently he told her starting his own private practice. He’s taking specific people and taking their info to call when he’s open. He did not ask me or tell me any of
This.

Maybe I’m too ducked up
For him but my feelings are hurt.

I see my new Pdoc Jan 10

of course it would be unsettling and feel unfair that he'd behave like this towards you

Where is he now? If he is at a government clinic, he is not allowed to recruit his current clients into his new private practice. One of my past pdocs in 2015 got in trouble and was nearly fired for doing something like that with me.

Just to offer one possibility that might exonerate him: he might be only taking people with certain insurance plans. The group practice probably has an assistant whose work it is to bill insurance so they can take many plans, but if he initially plans to do his own billing, he might be picky.

It probably has nothing to do with you at all. When my pdoc went from private practice to academic she took some patients and helped a lot of others find pdocs. She specializes in difficult cases, mainly BP and schizophrenia, and so those are the patients who went with her. I don't think she took many people with depression alone at all. It could be the reverse with your pdoc.

My eye doctor once dumped me and I later found out that he had opened a new practice with very expensive custom frames. Essentially you had to be rich to see him anymore and he judged wealth as the measure for dropping people. He's right, I couldn't afford him but I still was hurt and felt judged.

And Tart Cherry Jam may be right and it's as simple as insurance. Mental health places don't like to take medicare for some reason (money I know).

Oh right Hallie, you are now on Medicare. I forgot, I should have remembered it about you. This very well might be the reason.

In my area, most private practice psychiatrists do not accept insurance. They give patients a superbill and patients then bill their own insurance IFF they have private insurance with out-of-network coverage. But it does not work this way with Medicare. So patients with Medicare are out of luck with most psychiatrists who are in private practice.
