I wonder if anyone here takes the weight loss injections?
I started taking them 10 weeks ago.
I have lost 14 pounds since starting zepbound.
I receive 4 vials a month and draw up the medication and give it to myself.
Before I was taking the injects I was dieting and lost 6 pounds so since march I have lost 20 pounds.
I really don't see a difference.
I have 40 pounds more to lose so I have reached 33% toward my goal. It would be nice to get rid of the morbidly obese diagnosis.
So is there anyone out there who are getting the injections?

I won't take them. The thought of injecting myself with something creeps me out. Plus Medicare doesn't cover any weight loss meds. I was on phentermine briefly (they're oral tablets) but those made me depressed. I'm going to ask my psychiatrist on Monday if we can increase my wellbutrin.

Yes I’m on Wegovy / Ozempic.

Have lost 12kg!

My bmi has gone from 32 to 27.2.

I have 4 more kilograms to go then I’m at goal weight! I’m very happy with my success on the injections.

I’ve been on weight loss medications for close to a year and have lost significant weight. I have just been diagnosed with significant gastroparesis from the meds so I’ve had to stop for now.

What is gastroparesis? Doesn’t sound good! Which med were you on?

Paralyzed stomach muscles. The food doesn’t empty out. I started on Ozempic and switched to Zepbound.

I could probably get insurance to cover wegovy because of my heart disease. But my GI issues are worse and none of my doctors wants me to take them since I already have all the side effects.

Pdoc said absoutly not to that phentermine thing. But I'm positive I'll lose the weight when I can.

^^^^^^

This is why I don't want to go on one of the injectables too! I don't want to end up with paralyzed stomach muscles.

There was a small study that I read about where bipolar patients with diabetes who were taking lithium had positive cognitive effects with liragliptide injections. Does anyone who has been taking a glp-1 notice any improvements in thinking or memory?

Positive cognitive effects - yes. Very happy feelings when i now eat a small meal and then stop eating. I think my case is somewhat unusual in that my parents pretty much always overrode my "full - stop" signals by saying, "eat some more - what if your hungry later?!" A second helping was the only approval / love i ever got from them. I could never understand my skinny cousins NOT eating.

It wasnt love but it made me terrified to not clean my plate, like even on dates, which sometimes turned out very badly! Not a time you want your lizard (eating) brain taking over!

Ive had to work on accepting and not being afraid of good feelings for DECADES - of fearing some vague retribution, the sense that if i feel good, something bad is sure to happen. Now eating a small bowl of Shredded Wheat and Bran and successfully matching the amount of food to my stomach is a moment of joy. A circuit being closed.

I am on injections and have gone from morbidly obese to just obese.

The insurance doesn't want to pay for them anymore because I am not diabetic. I need to file an appeal.

Yes to high protein diet and you also need weight bearing exercise. It is important to maintain or, better yet, grow your muscle mass while on injections. You want to lose fat mass and preserve the pr cious muscle mass. It is possible to do, but strength training is needed.

Forgot to mention I’m not on the injections. My insurance may pay next year because I have fatty liver. Maybe!
