I still haven't had a period since February. I'm counting my lucky blessings I guess. Hot flushes have not started (yet). Touch wood. I'm 47. What if this isn't perimenopause and I'm going in to full blown menopause? Noooo period!

I'm 42 as well and am in perimenopause. My BP was stable on medication from 2012 to this year and now my moods are cycling again because of the hormonal chaos. It's crazy-making! And unalana - I hear you on noise driving you crazy! I work in a setting with a lot of kids and teens, and there are times when I'm about to lose my mind! Plus, my office is generally freezing, and I feel like I'm turning the space heater on and off every 30 seconds because as soon as I turn it on, I get way too hot. To top it off, I've been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the past year, and that also makes me sensitive to heat and cold. I'm about ready to lose my mind! Sorry I don't have anything more helpful to offer, but I wanted to let you know that you're not alone!

I changed my sheets into a set I didn't even know I still had and I must have had them a long time because there was a big period stain on it and that reminded me of what it was like to have horrendously heavy and painful periods. I'm so glad I had my hysterectomy. And I just wanted to give my great sympathy to those of you who still have periods to contend with. I hate the hot flashes but the bleeding was so much worse.

It was like I was at the frickin equator before. The hot flash was so intense I needed a full on ice jacket in order to get rid of it. I had ice packets, but wherever I put them on my torso it was like the hotness just spread away from that area and made the burning worse on the rest of my torso! I was practically sweating man! I'm finally cooling off now, but damn! Great. I said that and now it's coming back...

Right now I'm ready to go to my ob/gyn and beg her to give me a frickin hystrectomy!!

I'm also nauseous because I'm about to have my period apparently, so that's fun. I took a zofran early this morning, which helped, but I haven't taken one since.

Omg I'm dying!!!!

I know. Boohoo.

Sorry. Just REALLY needed to rant and rave for a bit.

I'm feeling so hot tonight that it's making it hard to get to sleep. I finally turned the thermostat down and hopefully it will get cooler in here. I feel as hot as I did earlier in the 90 degree weather.

It's been pointed out to me that my birthmark (port wine stain, usually purple) turns bright red during hot flashes. Anyone else have a port wine stain and does it change colors on you?

I’m spotting. Think my period is starting today. We’ll see. Bringing gear with me. Got sores in my mouth from that kiwi I think. Last period was 50 days ago. (July 16).

I dont think a hysterectomy would stop hot flashes. Arent hot flashes a sign of decreasing estrogen? Instead of perimenopause, you would have early menopause?

Maybe get one of those neck fans that are like headphones? I always had to have a fan under my desk at work.

Found this article:

Perimenopause: the extended trailer before menopause shows up. Spoiler alert: it’s packed with plot twists no one warns you about. 🎬🔥

Here are 5 lesser known facts about this wild ride:

1. Joint pain isn’t just “getting older.” Estrogen actually helps keep joints lubricated. When it drops, hello creaky knees and crunchy shoulders. Basically, your skeleton files for early retirement.

2.Your period goes rogue. Cycles can ghost you for months, then come back with enough blood loss to qualify as a horror film. Consistency? Never heard of her.

3.Brain fog is legit. Hormonal changes mess with memory and focus. That’s why you’ll forget the word spoon but still know your childhood best friend’s landline number.

4.Hormones can stir up new allergies. Estrogen influences histamine levels, so some people suddenly react to pollen, food, or pets that never bothered them before. Surprise! Your body just rebranded itself.

5.Sleep becomes a joke. Hormone shifts affect melatonin and cortisol, plus night sweats love a 3 a.m. cameo. Eight hours of rest? Cute. You’re getting 2 hours, a hot flash, and some overthinking about middle school.

Perimenopause is basically your body’s way of beta-testing chaos.

No period but cramping and raised temp. 99.5. (I always run cold.) Wondering if it’s going to turn into a fever - 100.4- as your temp goes up in the evening. Right sided ovarian pain off and on. Something’s not right. I don’t feel like I have a virus.

@Moose72 have you ever had an ovarian cyst? They can cause ovarian pain. For me it's usually stabbing that doesn't last long and then may repeat.

Would that raise your temperature? It’s a sharp pain that comes and goes. And my temp is 99.5. I usually run 97. Plus brown bleeding with cramping.

I don't know about the temperature. I've had cysts since I was a teenager but I don't remember fevers with them. I don't take my temperature very often though; at this moment I just realized I don't even own a thermometer since mine broke.

Usually I have pain for a only a short time. I get maybe 5 stabs of pain and then it's usually over.

Ugh. Got my period last night and today it's like a frickin blood bath! I even took that pill my ob/gyn prescribed me to lessen my bleeding and I don't think it's working, or it is working and it would be much worse. I'm nauseous. I'm having intense cramping pain. I'm having hot flash after hot flash. I'm an emotional wreck. (I almost started crying just because they banned non FDA approved e-cigs in my state, starting this month, which is like ALL of them except two! So I had no choice but to switch e-cig brands because there's no way in hell I'm going to start smoking again and the FDA one is going to be more expensive).

I also got really snappy because my husband and daughter were just messing with me, saying you were elderly when you turn 50. I know they were just joking but I'm really sensitive about my age and finally I just snapped and shouted, "YOU'RE NOT ****ING ELDERLY WHEN YOU'RE 55! IT'S WHEN YOU'RE 65!!!!"

Ugh. Sorry. I'm just a mess right now. Plus I'm having trouble sleeping. I always do when I'm having my period.

I'm just done. I'M DONE!

Checked my basal body temp and it’s 98.2. Back in the day that would be a solid post-ovulation temp. I have no other symptoms of being sick except the raised temperature. Would go along with the pain yesterday. My temps usually run ice cold - like 96-something- these days.
