After ten years on various ssri's my doctor had me raise my prozac to 40 mg to combat OCD and anxiety. That caused my anxiety to soar and I got definitivelt manic, spending 4,000 dollars in a week. I also had great difficulty keeping to my daily allowance of klonopin, hence my week in the psych ward.
Since my pdoc recognized my BP symptoms, he placed me on lamictal and stopped the prozac. I still take zyprexa at night. Three days into this regimen, I am feeling tons better and having an easy time leaving the klonopin alone. It appears that better days are ahead.

Welcome ocdandme. Once the diagnosis is made much better treatment can usually be offered. Good luck to you.

Hi, ocdandme. I'm glad you are having some luck with your new meds! That's great. Welcome to PC!

Thanks 3kitty and mentalP. I'll be scanning the BP board now and hopefully making some long overdue progress on relieving my internal pain. My wife understands but canot feel the change herself. I wish she knew how precious my hope is at this point. For 41 years I was the victim of my emotions. In only three days since my major med change, I am feeling more peaceful inside. Just wanted to share the news. lamictal, Zyprexa, Trazodone and fewer clonazepam than before are changing my life.
My first tdoc therapy is Thursday. I wonder if they'll decide I don't need therapy because mu mood has improved so well. Not really. I know I have a long road of recovery ahead. Bless you all.
