Bipolar runs in my family, my mother also suffers and has for as long as I can remember. She has suicidal tendencies that increased when my father died several years ago. She’s been on Zyprexa and Effexor since Zyprexa came out. Due to the side effects of Zyprexa her doctor has tried to eliminate the drug from her combo many times (each time a new drug came on the market). Nothing has worked as well as the Zyprexa.

Hi Mr RCBD

Welcome to PC. Yes, I did take Zyprexa twice before. The treatment was good, but the weight gain as a side effect was too much for me. I've included a link from our board that may have some more helpful information for you.

Looking forward to seeing ya around, if you have any questions or would like to talk more, just PM me!

Have anyone heard about ZYPREXA?

Take care,
Dee

Yep, and in a matter of 5 days I had gained about 20 lbs. My ankles turned into cankles and I couldn't fit my feet into my shoes. Even once the water retention went down I still found that I gained about 15 lbs. Yep, definitely not a fan.

I was on Zyprexa for a month. No weight gain here(I actually lost weight).
It did however make me restless to the point of not being able to sit still, so the pdoc took me off it.

I was on Zyprexa and gained a great deal of weight, I also blacked out a few times on it.... Needless to say they took me off of it...

Zyprexa was terrible!!! I gained about a pound a day and i felt worse mentally due to low self esteem. I eventually got off due to agitation

I heard it is a very good med for bipolar. Only the weight gain, if it occurs, is massive. Hope it doesn't do that for you MrRCBD.
