Just saying hello. I'm diagnosed Bipolar II & I feel like it's getting worse the older I get. I hate the side effects of Topamax but it's the only thing that has worked for me. I quit it cold turkey frequently, but end up having to go back on bc I come too close to having a seizure or I get a horrible migraine or cycling becomes too rapid & depression becomes overwhelming. I stopped taking it again a few days ago, and I'm feeling the effects, but I just don't care anymore.

Hi jungleanimal

Welcome to PC! I'm sorry the side effects are so bad that you are quitting cold turkey. Have you talked to the prescribing doctor regarding the issues? Perhaps he/she can change the dosage or maybe even suggest a different drug altogether?

Glad you joined us, and keep us updated on how things are going!

Take care,
Dee

It takes a lot of work . You have to try many meds. to find what works best for you everyone different .Along with meds. you should find support groups in your area their out there if you look the more you learn the better off you be .What i have found is that the people who go to groups seem to know what works and what doesn't .people who don't try and work at it seem to get to sick to go or just don't care .It takes lots time but every day you can get alittle better.Trust me I was out of my F&n mind well back.
