Not sure if this has any part of bipolar or hmm what ever, but I have a heck of a time remembering things that I should. Some times it is far worse then others, could be part of the medication too I suppose, but any one else have this issue?

It very well could be medication dueNorth,,but it would be important to know what type of memory fails you..

Long or short term?

Examples and when your memory does lapse is it in time of stress?

Well other then remembering dates which I always seem to have a hard time remembering. But there are things that I need to do and completely forget or think I have already done them. i.e. pay bills, drop paperwork off... all of it involves stress for me in one form or another.

Which of course, sets off a panic attack cause I either didn't do it or thought I did and didn't.

Other things which are completely useless, I seem to remember fine. It's very perplexing to say the least. I some times, when I have calmed down, think I am purposely setting myself up to fail. but don't know.

I guess it does not matter one way or another. Every thing is so screwed up I really don't think I can make it right again ever. I don't understand what in the world happened, who hit me with the stick to get me to this point or to be in this condition. sigh

I do too!! I think mine is more PTSD related. I unconsciously choose to remember some things, and stuff the rest. It stinks!!!!!!

I have trouble with memory. I forget leftovers in the fridge until they grow into a science experiment and i have to throw them out. I absolutely want to remember the food is there to eat but i haven't found a way to get that to work out. I have missed doctor's appts that i thought i had but at another time of the day. My memory problems stem from bipolar ii + add concentration).

I can appreciate how you feel about not getting the bills out in time. I get so frustrated with myself. I am a functioning human being in other areas but the memory problem stinks. For me its most affected short term memory down the severity scale to long term memory.

lately I got a weekly calendar book on the advice of my T. It helps when i remember to make sure i write in what i need to do. And i try to remember to check it to see what i have to do. This is a work in progress because once the page turns to the current week i forget what i worked on the week before. Gotta come up with a solution for that.

Is this memory dificulty new? Was it like this before your bipolar diagnosis? Was it like this only after this latest med? Or has this memory difficulty been with you all your life? Have you talked to your pdoc about this?

I started having problems with my memory when I started Lamictal. I would check if it might be a possible side effect of the medication. My issue was memory retrieval. The memory is there I was just having a tough time accessing the information.

Yeah, I have this too. I'm not sure what to say about it. I believe it is medication related. Sometimes I will not be able to recall something and a few hours later it will pop into my head without trying.
