I sometimes feel the need to get up and jump and dance and go crazy. Sometimes i will just go smoke pot because i feel it helps with the need to go crazy. Sometimes I will paint random stuff using random objects if i dont have a paintbrush, or listen to really loud music. I will get so involved with the project that i feel like i lose sense of time and act weird when my roommates talk to me and i just say im out of it and feeling weird. Other times i feel the need to cry but nothing will come out because i am on so many anti-depressant drugs. i just sit, being extremely sad and feeling like its impossible to smile. i also will sometimes be thinking something in my head and then i cant remember if i said it out loud or not, so i will be like "did i just say _______out loud?" and they usually say no that i didnt, but i couldnt honestly remember and that weirds me out. help!!!

Hmm. I don't know. Doesn't sound like my version of Bipolar. I'm bipolar I and 36, though, so there may be more differences between us just because of those two things. You might be Bipolar II, for instance, but I don't have experience with that, nor am I a clinician.

What is the opinion of the professional who prescribed the anti depressants?

The behaviors you describe above are seen in classrooms throughout the world every day. They are not necessarily dysfunctional.

IMHO.

No such thing as being 'just' depressed. Depression is serious. Anyhow, I hope you don't take this the wrong way but you really need to stop trying to self-medicate with pot. Research shows that it can lead to worstening of symptoms and psychosis.

Go get more help from a professional.

I can relate to the above pars of what you wrote with my bipolar on some days.

However, do not immediately jump to the conclusion though that you have bipolar disorder. It is quite possible these manic-like symptoms are actually a side effect of the anti depressant medication you are on.

The numbness and the inability to cry or experience the negative and sad emotions in a normal way is from the AD. Since it is affecting you in this way, there is a good chance it is also responsible for your other symptoms, especially if they began at roughly the same time.

What AD are you on, and how much?

I suggest talking to your doctor ASAP and letting him know the side effects you are experiencing and switching to a new AD. Going by what you wrote and the symptoms you are experiencing... my guess is that you are on a SSRI? See about switching to a SNRI such as Effexor or an atypical AD such as Wellbutrin. Both affect different neurotransmitters than the SSRI... so perhaps you will have a better outcome.

I hope this helps.
