Hi babe, don't know if this will help:

I am not bulimic so I cannot say I know what works, but keep talking about it.....you will always have an ear to listen.....

By the way, there has been research into the link between ceoliacs disease, fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome and bipolar.......if you are bulimic and not getting enough nutrient, it could affect hormone production and hormone use in the body, which then effects a whole number of systems - endocrine, digestive to name a couple. Hormones effect everything.....including mood. So I don't think the bulimia causes bipolar, more the nutrient deficiencies from bulimia can exacerbate it. Could be wrong!!!! You need to talk to your doc.......

Hello
I was diagnosed six months ago with cyclothymia which is a form of bipolar and am also bulimic. In the past six months I have been seeing a therapist as well as a pdoc and through the use of positive coping strategies and some medication I am leading a much better life. I have never been told from my pdoc or therapist that there has been any brain damage caused by the bulimia.

I used to purge four or more times everyday and this went on for over ten years. I have only purged once in the last month and maybe four times since the new year. Purging for me was my way of dealing with stress when I couldn't deal anymore, much like an alcoholic does. I now use a number of different coping stratagies to deal with different situations that arise. For example, when I feel I must binge I walk outside and take a walk until that feeling is gone. I also ask my server to box up half my meal when ordering out so that I don't over eat and feel the need to purge.

Well, in any event, if you are doing this or know someone who is please encourage them to get help from a doctor or from the hospital emergency room. Each person is different and going to react to different treatments but the only way to deat it is to actually seek help. Bulimia is very serious and can cause damage to your stomach as well as the esofigous.
