i didn't have good luck with abilify at all...different symptoms but had to stop taking it. have heard excellent info re lamictal. hope you can get your pharmacy to order it for you. they should have offered anyway.

I'm on 150 mg of Lamictal and it seems to be working ok. 100 wasn't enough. I got really nauseous and had no appetite until my body got used to it (also each time it was increased), but that's gone away. My pharmacy always has to order it too and I always call so that they have plenty of time to get it in, but it still comes late sometimes and I feel like those days when I don't have it are really, really bad. I don't know if that's just psychosomatic or if it's biochemical... I thought it would stay in my system long enough to go a couple days without it, but they do insist that you take it every single day. Something my pharmacy doesn't really seem to care about, since they're never in such a hurry to make sure that I can take my meds as prescribed.

Even if it's not biochemical, I think the stress and worry associated with not having your meds, which you depend on, are enough to make you crash. Maybe you'll feel better in a couple days when you finally have the Lamictal. Good luck! Keep me updated because I'm curious to know how Lamictal works with other people.

Hi RainKeeper,
I hope you are having an easy adjustment to the Lamictal. It takes a little over a week to really feel the difference. I also had a difficult time with just an antidepressant. My Pdoc put me on Lamictal (100mg--I'm very sensitive to meds so it worked) in addition to Cymbalta and it helped even out my mood but I still felt slightly hypomanic and still had a problem staying asleep at night. So Pdoc gave me Seroquel to take at night. Sleep better but Ohhh, terrible weight gain with Seroquel. I might ask my new Pdoc about what other med will act like Seroquel without weight gain and the pros and cons of changing. But Lamictal is great for me. After a week, I started to feel more level--still had odd dreams with it but at least they are not frightening. By the way, Lamictal leaves your system quickly so you shouldn't miss a day. I forgot it a couple of times and was miserable.
Please let us know how you are doing with your new med.
Wishing you sunny days ahead, Journey
