That's not what she said, but it's what I'm starting to understand from what my psych nurse has been doing.

All along, she plays up my Bipolar as if it's the main disorder and really never talks about the Borderline. I really think my Borderline traits are significant. Yes I have both illnesses and yes one of them responds better to medication but don't we need to treat BOTH?

After saying that I am fed up with being this way, she finally gave me a suggestion that I like. She said a new professional is coming to town - probably another psych nurse, could be a social worker or psychologist, I don't know - and this person specializes in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Ding ding ding! That's what I need! And the best my psych nurse ever did at it was give me a workbook to do on my own.

I've been at this for well over 2 years. I just hope this new therapist turns out to be good.

I don't see a psych nurse. I see a therpist and we don't talk about any diagnosis. We talk about me.

Bipolar, depression, anxiety or any combination, are commonly used when a pdoc or therapist is billing insurance, because personality disorders are generally not covered.

Also, there is no medication for BPD per se. Medication may be given for the depression part of it, or the anxiety part of it. It sounds like that is what your are getting.

Yay! New arrival who at least gets the picture on bpd, or wouldn't be teaching DBT! And I say go for guidance in the DBT if you can. One of the things that is good about DBT is meeting other individuals you will find are like you. At least, that made a difference for me, even when I was a dolt in DBT...Best of luck!
