Hi, I originally made a post like this on the newcomer board, just wondering what your thoughts are on this
I have the tendancy to have periods of extreme irritability which can last anything from a couple of minutes to days - in these I have the tendancy to go mental even over tiny things which most people wouldn't find annoying in the slightest and can happend completely randomly - I can be laughing along with a friend and the next moment be shouting and insulting him/her. I also find this tends to happen most often with close friend/family members, the closer the more frequent these things happen, and they really happen with people I don't know as well. I find I tend to swing from focusing on all their positive traits and ignoring their negatives to completely the other way around - even to the extent where I might be feeling hatred towards them. I have recently been talking to friends/family about this and my suspicions have largely been confirmed. In addition to this I also have periods where I simply feel a horrible sense of emptiness, confusion about my identity (mainly to do with how I think others percieve me). I also often feel very depressed and underevaluate myself. I've never felt suicidal or thought suicidal thoughts though; I don't really view death as a suitable "escape" and thus almost feel trapped in this state. Over the past couple of months my sleep has also been increasingly disturbed and as a result I feel constantly sleepy and spaced out. Do you think this could possibly be BPD? If not it would hugely be appreciated if you could point me in the right direction |

Elements of what you've said could be bpd traits. Or maybe even depression. People with bpd tend to have suicidal thoughts or thoughts/actions of self harm.
You have to be 5 or more of these symptoms.
But it's definately worth checking with the doc

I've been diagnosed with BPD and can relate to how your moods fluctuate, and your opinions of others are very black/white and they can also change extremely quickly. With borderline there are a few other symptoms that indicate whether or not you have BPD, try doing a bit of research, see which symptoms fit you, and which don't. Then try going to a doctor and see what they say.

The right direction, when you want your life to feel better, and you want to understand yourself better.. is toward therapy. :hug;
