Easiest Way to Descripe BPD

In your opinions what is the easiest way to explain BPD?

Me, Myself and I.. lol

Intense fear of abandonment. Unable to maintain boundaries or balance in relationships.

Well, with the misdiagnosis I once received of BPD and the horrible treatment I received from mental health professionals as a result, I would describe it as:

Misunderstood and highly stigmatized.

Seriously, I feel for you guys.

Unstable and turbulent emotions.

I don't think there is an easy way to describe BPD. LOL It's all of the above! For me, the strongest issue is identity I think. No, fear of abandonment is up there too... as well as.. see?

I've heard it described as Attention Whoring Disorder

I used to think it was, "What the frick is wrong with you people!!" Do you just not care??!! =)

I had a doc once who said I might have features of of borderline personality. I thought she just meant I was kind of boring
After reading these posts I guess it's safe to say BPD doesn't mean lacking a sense of humor.

I prefer what the F**K is wrong with you, and then I throw a plate against the wall, break it, and then tell smurf&turf enough with her attention whoring disorder and clean it up... I imagine she'd tell me to F**k off and at that point we'd both just say F**kit and we'd just have broken plates everywhere...

The abandonment issues and black/white thinking are also huge for me, and cause me no end of trouble.

Oh we have a sense of humor. Everyone else doesn't!

You mean like one book being an adult magazine and the other being a romance novel?

SOMETIMES (like when my hypomania sets in) But mostly my head is reading a scientific masterpiece where logic is the order of the day and my heart a soppy Danielle Steele novel. Ugh

Too freaking funny....mine would be a home decore book, and a self help "how to get your *** out of bed!"

Forgive77 i agree on the self help book.. The other probably a comic book.. like Betty and Veronica.. LOL

I told my therapist I was "ornery" and she was not a native English speaker so did not know the word and I explained it, etc. and later that session she tried to use or reflect it but it came out sounding like "ordinary". I immediately set her straight with, "I may be a lot of things, but "ordinary" isn't one of them!"

Kinda what I was feeling...oh crap...she thinks my personality is borderline

I told Andy my bf that bpd is a fancy word for "emotional immaturity". I kind of said it jokingly, but I was dead serious. He wanted to know what bpd was and why I had such a "terrible label".

Oh, and that "attention whoring" thing came to mind and that's why I don't tell anyone---incl. professionals. The last thing I want to look like is a "*****" when I am indeed desperately trying to feel better and seek answers.

"Attention whoring disorder" is more like HPD or even NPD... Not BPD.

Easiest way to explain BPD, call it by its other name: ERD- emotional regulation disorder. Self explanatory.

It's all the dramatics possible over spilled milk. Then a big whoops after the storm clears aka we wipe it up with a bounty, the quicker picker upper.
