I can't stand how my moods are moving so fast... and very strongly!

For the past 3 weeks, I've either seen or heard a man getting his arse beaten bad. It makes me super anxious each time ~ as that one time,3 weeks ago, it woke me from a deep sleep to hear 7 guys beating the hell out of one. Turned out that he got taken to ER and was in critical condition. Last week, cops broke up a fight in front of the apartment building.

Am I living in a bad area or what? Is my high anxiety normal after these fights? I was just about to go to sleep 15 minutes ago, when 2 guys whopped up on another guy in front of my apartment. I called the police ~ but now, I'm wide awake & anxious dammit!

I think that this is what I get for living downtown. Lots of bars right down the street. I can't even count how many there are! Not good. I don't know why the fights scare the bejeezers out of me every time. It reminds me of the horrific fights I saw as a kid, between family members. That's the only thing I can think of on why I am SOOO upset.

Holy Crap! I don't blame you for getting anxious, I think I would and I was in law enforcement. You are probably right on the money tying back to you childhood experiences. Remember to try to stay in the present and maybe do some meditation or something to help with the nerves, or some sleepytime tea. Wow, good luck.

I am not surprised that you feel so anxious I think anyone would feel the same in your situation, Before I moved to where I am now it was a bad area always gangs hanging about drug dealing, shootings etc I was too afraid to go out.

I would be very anxious as well.

Sorry you are dealing with this.

Scary; disturbing.

I would also be very anxious Shez, so your anxiety is understandable. I lived in a freaky neighborhood when I was younger and it definitely did give me the creeps.
As far as mood swings go, I get those too...they seem uncontrollable and all over the map.
Hope you feel better soon. Try some deep breathing meditation at night and put on soothing music (ocean sounds) something ambient to take you to a place of relaxation. At least that helps a little for me. *hugs*
Best wishes.

I think tying it to your past is part of it but honestly I think as often as that is happening it would make almost anyone anxious to a degree. That's just not a good environment to be around everyday, let alone be woken up by it regularly. Are you in a bad part of town? I couldn't say, only you know but I can say that the apartment complex needs some security or policing.

I'm sorry for your situation, I hope it gets better or you get a chance to move to a better place.

*hugs*
