Could demon possession be real? Couldn't the brain going awry in mental illness be caused by the demon? Psychiatry does not answer WHY the brain malfunctions, just that it does, which I am sure it does. Why the brain goes awry in mental illness could be that the demons made it go awry. I dabbled in the occult a bit and I think my problems are probably caused by something of a spiritual/demonic nature and I think this is probably true a lot of the time. I'm actually going to see a priest soon to try to get rid of whatever being is possessing me below my level of awareness (if that is indeed true). I'll let everyone know how it goes. I have been getting extensively into prayer and religion with some limited level of success.

I went to an Episcopalian priest several years ago and it didn't help. Also looked into deliverance and went to a psychologist who was an evangelican Christian. Like you, I had felt possessed. Eventually I was diagnosed with DDNOS, a condition similar to DID but without the loses of cognitive memory.
Therapy has been long and hard. Whatever your situation, I wish you the best of luck and success in dealing with it, in whatever way works for you. |

Please keep us updated....
I was raised strict Pentecostal Christian (Im agnostic now) so I am very familiar with the belief that demons can possess people. However, we were never under the belief that priests or ministers were the only ones who could banish them. Its an interesting concept. We were led to believe that if we dabble in demonic avenues, such as spells, listening to certain music or even hypnotism could open us up to demonic influences. It instilled fear in me and I think that's what the whole gist was and is.

Yes I was brought up to believe anyone could get rid of a demon using Jesus name but I believe mental health issues are caused by either environment or genetics but probably both and I am still Christian. It's advisable to seek a doctors advice also. Good luck
