Answer this truthfully, because it's really important to me. If you don't feel like answering in the thread, please send me a PM.
Are you the main character of a story? This requires further explanation. I'm not asking if you see yourself as a hero or something; nothing like that. Not all main characters are heroes. In fact, most of them aren't. I am also not asking if you think that you yourself have no flaws. Most well-written characters have flaws, sometimes very bad ones. It's nothing like that. I'm not asking if you have an oversized ego because I'm pretty positive most of you don't. Let me know if I'm wrong about this. Regardless of your ego, the question is still this: are you the main character of a story? What story? Well, the story involves you, your friends, your life, and probably your illness. It may have a title, even episode titles, story arcs, and an occasional sweeps. Is this something you obsessively think about, or even think about a little bit? Please understand that I am not asking if you honestly believe you are a character in someone else's writing or TV. I'm not asking about delusions where you believe you're being watched. I mean, do you obsessively think about real life as if it were fiction? On that note, have you ever pursued a course of action just because it would be the most interesting, assuming of course, that your life is in fact a story? Especially if this course of action was in some way detrimental to you or another person. Do you ever find yourself trying to shoehorn morals into the story? Demonstrate some lesson, like "drugs are bad" or "be yourself," or "don't talk to strangers?" Please let me know if this is true. I also want to know if all the above (or some of them) are true, but you see yourself as only a minor or supporting character. I'm not asking this crap for some kind of dumb study or paper or something. I just need to know. |
