I don't know. I just kind of feel like I should keep my mouth shut for a while.

I need an outlet to make me feel better, but I have creator's block, and I don't have any other reliable outlets.

Oh, it's exclusive. I managed to get on with a computer a couple times, but that was so I could play tetris.

I sometimes want to stand so far back no one can get near me. Withdrawal is my drug of choice...push everyone away and isolate. Fill my time with learning new things and working on art and music. This works well...I don't mind being there for others, I just don't want them to get near me emotionally - feelings are oftentimes too hard for me to process.
I have a thick wall built up...
It's okay to do this I think, (we all need our own space whether we use it to brood or explore ourselves) I mean provided no one is hurt in the process.
Or perhaps rationalizing my 'craziness' makes me crazier...who knows. lol

ps. Hope you're doing okay S4

What's wrong with a laptop? I'd get one if I had the money.

I agree. I prefer laptops. Mine is like Sheldon's from The Big Bang Theory. I bought it specifically for the graphics. And now I don't do any gaming, so whatever. But it's still awesome.

I prefer an old-fashioned desktop to a laptop anyday. I'm usually on my desktop or my tablet or phone. I don't even have a laptop. S4, I understand what you mean about you don't know what's real or not in the virtual world, that people could be throwing hugs at you and you don't know whether they are genuine or not.

I started PC after a horribly failed real friendship and I've noticed that I've begun to push and cling to my virtual friends and much as I ever did to the real-life ones, I guess because it's all I feel I have.....and I don't know whether they are real in their emotions towards me or not. I do know that I don't fake things here; it's the only place I feel I can be genuine. I have had a few delusional periods a few months ago that I convinced myself that all of the stuff in the virtual world was unreal, a complete fabrication of my imagination. Of course that didn't last too long......

I don't mean to make it sound like people are intentionally fake. I don't think people are. I just think it's easy to be more affectionate and caring online. I mean, there is no real commitment to be responsible, accountable for. I don't know if that makes sense our not.

It makes complete sense and I believe that most people are probably fairly genuine, but you're right. It's really easy to hug someone or offer affection online, but would those same people show the same affection in person? Some, sure, others, not. As for me, I was raised in a family that rarely showed physical affection and when I was younger it was very hard for me to hug people. I'd like to believe that that has changed a bit and I think I'd be a little more reserved than I am online but I'd like to think that I show most of my true feelings. I'm reserved at giving hugs here for that reason. I don't feel comfortable giving hugs to everyone and in every circumstance because I'm more reserved and I want the ones I give to mean something if that makes sense.

I'm a bit more cynical when it comes to people online. I think most are fairly genuine, but I've also met some who use the Internet to be who they want to be and who've changed their personalities just as I get to know them, so I don't necessarily disbelieve people but I'm wary. I've seen enough people who just don't appear to be who they say to be cautious.

Well I'll disclaim my situation, I just have no reason or need for one first of all. When I'm out and about, I have no need or desire to use a computer. When I'm home, I see no reason to use a lesser computer. What I mean is, with a laptop you lose a lot IMO if you're used to desktop computing. I don't like the keyboards on laptops. Not a single one has ever been good enough for typing fluidly for me. Second, I hate touch pads with a passion. About the only laptop that I've used that had one with a decent touchpad was a macbook pro, and even that wasn't as good as a nice mouse! Also, sure you can hook up a mouse but for all the portability in a laptop you usually don't have a desktop to put your mouse on and it ends up being a couch or whatever other surface you can find and they are never ideal. Lastly, I game primarily for entertainment and use the pc, and even the high end laptops for gaming can't match up with what power you can get in a desktop, period. Plus, the biggest screen you can get on a laptop is maybe 18" and that's still about 5" smaller than what i use on my desktop.

you asked.

Yes, I did. I don't know what IMO stands for, but I get the rest of your reasons. I mostly just want one for my writing, and so that I don't need to find an actual computer to view certain files.
