My pdoc hasn't given me a diagnosis, my first meeting she said I sound like bipolar, but not quite.

My mood will mostly be depressed/suicidal depressed, it's how I wake up, doesn't change through out the day.

I can come out of a depressed period which can last 1 day to months.

I'll get a few normal mood days and a few (hypo)manic days, they can lead back to depression for a day then back to (hypo)mania, then back to normal, depression. different combos.

If my mood does change in a day it only gets worse from where I started: If I'm depressed I can only get more depressed.

Some times mixed.

Could this be borderline personality disorder?

also I went on paxil for 3 months, I was locked into mania for a full month and it was the longest I've ever been in it. felt amazing! the other 2 months just depression, no normal days or mania in between.

This has only started over a 14 month period, I'm 22 never had any problems.

What you need to ask yourself is are the mood changes caused by something. In BPD, they always are. Sometimes the something is hard to find because our moods can change very fast, but there's always a reason. With bipolar, it's more of a chemical imbalance and the moods aren't necessarily precipitated by anything.

Also, BPDs can change moods very, very fast, much faster than a bipolar. We can go through 3 or 4 intense emotions in less than five minutes. For example, someone walks in the room and says something we take offensive. We are instantly very angry. The person is confused or is hurt by our reaction. We are instantly remorseful. Then we hear a song on the radio. We are instantly very sad, and then we look over and see a picture on the counter of a happy occasion. We are instantly very happy, etc. And all of that can happen very, very fast. Rapid cycle Bipolar is once a day or so, maybe a little faster. No real comparison.

Thanks for the reply. That rules out BPD. My mood is usually set, not really affected or change unless I go to sleep.
