SO I have been feeling good and doing good lately but knowing me I am bound to screw it up somehow.

My life has been just great nothing odd or out of the ordinary to report. I have been regularly taking my meds and going to my scheduled appointments. I have been given money to go to take zumba classes but everything has been such a rush I forgot to sign up and now don't have the energy to do something like that. But I been feeling guilty about the money ever since...help...

I just wish my Pdoc would've taken seriously on how much non sleep I am getting and prescribed me something for it...

Good. To hear you doing good.
I'm sure there will be another chance to sign up.

Keep the good vibes going.

Glad to hear you are feeling good.

My pdoc suggested melatonin, which is over the counter. She didn't want me to take trazodone anymore because you develop a tolerance to it (I was already beginning to) and because I'm already on enough damned meds that I may as well try something natural, hey? It seems to work alright as long as I also practice good sleep hygiene. Like not watching a ton of TV right before bed, or being on the computer forever (like I am right now). And as long as I go to sleep when I feel tired and not try to push through and do other stuff. Maybe ask your pdoc about it, see what they think.

In addition to melatonin you can try valerian. It is even in the form of a tea that Celetial Seasonings makes called Sleepytime Extra. It'll help relax you for sleep, but if it's your thoughts going a million miles an hour that's contributing, you need to shut them down some first, maybe with meditation or some such.

Thanks for that Maranara, I didn't quite think of it like that, but you're exactly right: there's arousal/relaxation, and there's thoughts. Sleeping pills, be it benzo's, antihistamines, z-drugs or off-label use antipsychotics and what not, they always knock you out so both arousal and thoughts are taken care of.

Since I'm off Seroquel I've picked up my habit of listening to an audiobook on my mp3 player to focus my thoughts. I cut time to sleep by at least an hour that way. However, I found I needed something extra, especially since Seroquel had messed up my sleep so much.

So I take indeed valerian. It's very subtle and doesn't work at all like a sleeping pill, that simply knocks you out. (Even at the dose I take, a full gram 2 hours before bed and 500mg when in bed). You just get more relaxed and need to do part of the work yourself: the thoughts.

I buy mine online in powder and put it in capsules myself, that way you don't have to spend too much money, so you can take a decent dose...
