Over the past couple weeks my memory has gone weird. I know where I've been, and when I've been there, but I only remember about 75% of what I've done, and less of what I've said. I have even less memory of what people around me have done and said. But that's normal, right? No one remembers everything.
Here's the details. Someone can say something and a few seconds later I don't remember the topic, let alone what was said. I can be navigating a website only to forget how I got to a page, making it impossible to find later. I'll read something and have to reread because I don't remember what it said. At some point in the last few days I had an audio hallucination, but I don't remember what it was or if it was even a hallucination. I got three or four books from the library this morning and can't tell you what some of them were. I remember a dream from last night better than I remember yesterday. I used to remember whole sections of conversations almost word for word, which tells you what "normal" memory is for me. I don't get it.

Depression can cause an inability to focus and remember. Other than that, not sure what it'd be.

I've found my memory to be really shoddy lately. Moreso than usual. I think it might be a lack of mindfulness, my brain has all these other things going on in there and I'm not really being mindful of what I'm doing. I actually get kind of freaked out that I might have a brain tumour or something.
Sorry, my response probably isn't helpful, but this post about memory sparked this recent concern for me. Sometimes i don't know if I'm remembering something correctly or if I've made it up :/ |

It sounds like you're having concentration issues. Possibly stress and everything going on right now is attributing to that. As Nevergoodenough said, it's true, depression can have an effect on the ability to concentrate and also memory.

I've been kind of stressed, I guess. Not especially depressed though.
Before I forget, don't ask how long this has been going on. I don't remember.

I agree completely. Another thing that can have an effect on concentration and memory is the lack of sleep. This is something I am currently having difficulty with. I know that for me, it is difficult to get my mind to shut off some nights, and I believe that is indicative of a BPD dx as well. |

I sleep 7-8 hours a night. I actually feel better on less sleep sometimes, because when I sleep too long, I just can't wake up fully.
