Why am I so defensive? Like when people try to talk to me about...hmmm example: How to help me with my BPD or other disorders. I just get mad. I get all defensive and act like I'm the only one who knows anything about the topic. I know it's not true, and I really do want help with these things. GAH! I really don't understand most of the things I do.

I find it pretty hard when people try to give me advice on coping with BPD when they haven't struggled with a mental illness before, they may be suggesting good things but they don't understand that you can't always just "think positively" about stuff. I get pretty angry very quickly when this happens.

I would get wound up also as I can't really see how someone can understand unless they have it themselves. I have been told to 'just snap out of it', 'look on the bright side' and so forth.....none of this obviously works :/
That's why I come here for advice, the ppl here actually understand what it is I'm talking about. People IRL may want to help but more than often than not, really, they don't understand.
