Right now I feel like I am just existing. I am not overly depressed or angry or happy. I just am. I don't like this. I don't want to have extreme emotions but this is just blah. I wonder if in part it is due to exhaustion, I am sleeping horribly lately, getting maybe 3 hours a night.

Huggggs, I hate that feeling and the lack of sleep is definitely not helping. I hope you get some rest soon and joy :-)

Oh I hear you. . . that feeling of just existing. I feel like that too often ~ and for me I think much of it is sleep deprivation and stress, it can wear a person out mentally. We just don't function or feel as well all around. DO try to get more sleep, I'm sure that will help.

I go through that too. And yes, the first thing is that I needed was to get the sleep thing back on a regular track. Also, I discovered through therapy, that I go into a dissociated state as a defense mechanism against the emotions that seems too intense. I would get so irritated with myself when I would go numb like this, but my therapist taught me to use it as an indicator that I needed to pay attention to myself and care for myself. Hope this helps??? I wish you the best slumber tonight!!!!!

Your mind is too tired to get worked-up, or be overjoyed. Ive been there. Get some rest, A.

Sleep definitely plays a huge role in my BPD symptoms, same as if I'm hungry, etc. I hope you can get some more rest soon! Know you are not alone in feeling as if you are just existing, I have those feelings quite often.

Thanks everyone. I do try to sleep and actually fall asleep at reasonable times. It is the constant waking up and not going back to sleep for hours that is preventing me from getting sleep.

If you have a digital clock that you can see from your bed try counting the number of times you inhale between the number changing. Then keep trying to inhale less times the next minute. It helps you relax and clear your mind. Usually I can get down to about 10 before I fall to sleep. It might help you.
