I've been posting for about a week or so and getting so much out of the PC forum. Lots of good advice and support.

But, being BPD, I'm now having paranoid thoughts that nobody on PC likes me.

No, I'm not fishing for likes but just kind of chuckling to myself about how silly that thought is.

Your right it is a silly thought. Iv'e always thought of psych central as a second home.
This is a very big forum, and people don't reply right away. Now that I am back from a really bad bout of depression, I feel much better. Feel free to mesage me any time. I will try to do my best to help you.

Sincerely,

Piraeus

I know the feeling. I am just now back after a several month hiatus. This place was doing me more harm than good with all those "silly" thoughts wandering around in my head.

Yes, it is the nature of the beast, as they say. Something I gotta work on.

Got a question for the forum -

Has anyone come across the comment: "You always take things wrong"?

Same boat, especially since I killed a thread here with my less than desirable reply

I've felt like that, always scared that someone is going to have a go at me, tell me how stupid and unwanted I am, so much so sometimes I'm nervous about looking at any responses I might get.
I need this place to be safe from attack.
Thanks for this!

I've found people in this BPD forum to be very supportive... I do get where you're coming from! It's too easy to feel disliked when in reality we're very likeable

You're not alone! I have been taking a break from posting and now use the chat function a lot. I will probably start posting again soon, I have missed it and ppl here. Though looking at some of the posts I don't think I know anyone anymore lol

I think the good thing is that you've recognized this is something that bothers you and so you've opened up in a calm and honest manner. I can only but have respect for that

Like a lot of public platforms - there will be times when what we put out there isn't heard and/or responded too appropriately.

I try not to take it personally and instead remember the reality of the situation. This is a computer screen and i'm typing words someone i don't know will see on their computer screen. I agree that statement can make this process feel somewhat lonelier than it already might - but for me i find it also takes the sting out of any snide remark, nonconstructive criticism etc.

Remember there is the ignore feature on this website which can help you remove users you simply don't wish to see and i believe whole boards can also be gotten rid of in a click. I'm not saying it's a faultless system - in fact the one here could do with specific adjustments, but it's another option open to you.

There are always going to be people who think they're hilarious or think it's ok to treat people as badly as they have been treated. Leave them to their anger and focus on what's more important - yourself.

To quote Colonel Sherman T. Potter; 'It's too big a world to be in competition with everybody else, the only person i need to get better than is the one i am now, and in your case - that's hard enough.'
Thanks for this!

First of all, welcome to PC.
I'm very familiar with these sorts of thoughts. I've been a member of PC for 4 years come December. I was posting a lot on here from October 2013 - January 2014. As in constantly replying to posts and whatnot. I didn't think anyone here liked me, and thought they thought I was annoying.
Turns out that wasn't at all true. I ended up meeting my soul mate here of all places. and also a really good friend who I stay in touch with regularly. Seems the majority of people weren't bothered by me at all, and even found me helpful at times. I'm pretty sure the same is true for you.
Thanks for this!

Thanks everyone for all your kind responses. I'm glad I put it out there. I'm now putting my paranoid thoughts in better perspective.

It's great that you recognize these thoughts as "silly"! I get them sometimes on here as well but I just simply remind myself how every one here is just so wonderful and I know it is a place of caring and not judgement. I think it's safe to say I love every one on here very much and I know I am cared for as well.
Welcome to the forums SkyWhite and I hope you enjoy yourself.

I think all of us with BPD feel this way once in a while no matter how supportive the people on this site are. Kinda like we never quite feel good enough, and don't understand why anyone would find us interesting enough to talk to, much less read our threads.

When I get like that, I have to step away from the site, and deal with my fear which usually turns into depression, if I don't catch it. The site is great for destraction but sometimes it gets to be too much and I have to step away.

Anyway, you're not alone.
