A poem I wrote a few years ago. I put it on poemhunter.com. Shouldn't be too hard to understand
![]() ---------------------------------------------------------------- Waiting so long proved to be a folly But, I now choose serenity over melancholy The battle is over, and I need to rest For me, He knows, that's what's best The conflict left me high and dry Yet, there are no tears left to cry There isn't a question left to ask In eternal serenity, I wish to bask His laws demand that this spirit be set free What it has missed, all along, it must see A world away from any and all harm I'll soon be immersed in an ocean of calm As I wait for Him to reach His arms out I feel my mind devoid of all doubt I ask Him to take me away, whole I surrender to Him, mind, body, and soul All I have to do is shut my eyes now I needn't worry anymore, about the what, when, or how As I lie here staring Him in the face I revel in knowing I'm going to a better place |

Nice poem. I am worried, though, that you are suicidal. Are you okay?

A very moving poem - thank you for sharing. It is an empowering poem. No longer a shattered self but a part of all eternity. Very inspiring. Thank you!

Thanks ! I'm doing ok. I have dark moments, but I'm certainly not suicidal. Just felt like sharing the poem.

Meditation can lead to poems that are filled with mythological metaphors. When we turn within we can witness our highest potential. Words can only point to this experience in metaphors. So I got that it was not suicide but being overshadowed by something beyond our human concept of self.

About the poem, just to clarify, it is very much (entirely) about departing (I don't like using the 's' word). It's just that it was written years ago, when I very much felt like departing. I don't feel that way at the moment, but back then, yes. |

I understand that feeling of departing or wanting to depart. It creeps in and can at times be scary or a sobering awakening to the preciousness of life and its changeableness.
I also think that sense of departing is that we are leaving behind all the old ideas of who we are and we are something we never imagined. And tomorrow something else. I do practice mindfulness or trying to be more alive to this moment. It can be a simple as following my breath and the listening to the birds singing in the morning. Yoga helps me tune in and relax and quiet my mind. It is surprising that the scattered thoughts can be every where but they do diminish, some days more than others, and then with a few minutes of turning within, quiet reigns for a little bit and whatever gift you have inside can pour out. One night this came out of the blue The moon is shining in my window tonight, Silently whispering in my ears. Secrets I can never tell In words... or... thoughts... or deeds. |

You seem really enlightened and in control, and your poem is deep. |

I do meditate but not trying to change anything but to be more aware of what is happening around me and in me now. It can be as simple as following the breath. Or listening to a bird sing. The magic is inside each one of us waiting to express itself. |
