I need some help. I am feeling resentful. Resentful that I should give respect where none is given to me. Please help me remember why other people deserve compassion or respect if I feel I don't get it myself. Thank you.

I understand the feeling. People don't always deserve compassion and/or respect, esp when I don't get it myself, but I try not to stoop down to their level of harshness and rudeness. I try to be the bigger better person. I'm not always successful, but I try.

Also, more importantly, when I respect others, I feel good MYSELF. When I intentionally mistreat others, I usually feel like crap.

They may not deserve your compassion, but you deserve some peace of mind, so ...
Thanks for this!

Thank you, sometimes I just want a friendly reminder. Respect begets respect.

(((Euphy))) I know what you mean. Just today I was waiting to park my car today, I saw a space so I went to reverse in and a woman had taken it knowing that I was going to park there. That was o.k. I said to myself "she's not worth it" but then I met her and she had a smirk on her face when she looked at me. I was going to blow my top at her, I just didn't have the energy. It just bugs me. Dont get me started on people I work with........

This world lacks respect all over the place, but I feel better if I give respect to other people. I also sometimes get resentful...but if I purposely don't show respect to others, it brings me down.

I wouldn't say that they deserve it. But its a nice thing to do and if you look inside you may find that parts of you wants to be nice to others, at least, to those that can appreciate it
