I feel so guilty.
My two sisters came to celebrate my birthday. They were here for about three hours. We went for lunch and then a nice beach walk and then back to my house for tea and cake.
And then they talked & talked & talked. I just wanted to run away.
I really can't tolerate being around anyone for any length of time. The only thing I could do was kind of just sit back and not participate and try to calm down. They will leave. I had to keep telling myself that. And now I just feel exhausted and guilty. I feel so bad.

Dont feel bad Jean, when we don't feel well it's so hard to be the life and soul of the party. Do they know anthing about your MH. It can be hardest talking to nearest and dearest. Please don't feel guilty, I know what it's like not to be able to converse, and wishing you could curl up and die. That's the worst thing about MH problems, nobody can see the damage inside. Don't be so hard on yourself. Jean needs to cut herslf some slack....

Best wishes

I think you have no reason to feel guilty at all - you did all the things one would normally do on a birthday - cake etc.

3 hours is a looooong time to socialize with people when you kind of want to be by yourself. I think they were just trying to support you on your birthday. Don't feel bad because you've done everything right and got involved in the birthday festivities. Just because you then wanted some alone time - who can blame you? 3 hours ...... I'd be zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Don't feel guilty Jean 17. You did really well hanging in there for as long as you did. Also you gave more of yourself than you thought you had to give, go girl !! You shared your birthday cake with your sisters which, I'm sure they were grateful for... Remember to breath and take one day at a time with one step at a time. I hope this has helped a little.
