I have been crying cause I think I am going to lose my job. The last 7 days I have worked double shifts (16-17 hours) most days cause one of my colleagues left without any notice. Since then I have been making stupid mistakes and have become real stressed and tired. Not only I have been working double shifts but I also have an extra job which my colleague used to do. So today, I made a big mistake and it cost the agency a little money which I offered to take out of my pay. Well my manager won't reply to me and I am sure the mistakes I made along with the stupid questions I keep asking her, I am sure she wants rid of me. I am not being paranoid, I am sure she wants me out but can't because we are already 1 person down,

And to top it all off, I am having problems with my identity (yes I know BPD), I mean even more than usual. I question everything I think and say..and it is screwing with me as a person. I feel as though life is 1 big illusion and nothing is what it seems in my screwed up head. Hopefully I am wrong about my boss wanting to sack me but I don't think so.

Try not to stress about it. I know how hard that is but there's nothing you can do tonight except rest and hopefully get a good night's sleep. I'm sorry you're feeling so awful. But remember, showing up is 90% of life. I got fired for not being there...
Thanks for this!

Well whose fault is this really? How can you be to blame for doing the work of 2 people and working double shifts for 7 days in a row?!?!

So you made a mistake and think they want to point the finger at you? What part of management would not sit back and think hang on, we've pushed our employee too far with the work load.

I'm not sure about the employment laws where you are and I'm sort of thinking that maybe you're casual as opposed to permanent? Not sure if you have a contract with them, if any.

I'd advise, for the time being, say as little as possible unless spoken to about this situation because you are emotionally vulnerable and you don't want to start saying things that might be adding fuel to the fire.

I'm sorry I don't know what external support you may have over there. Anything like an employment ombudsman if it comes that? A union? (I'm suspecting not...) Surely there must be a 3rd party who can support and advocate for you, if need be, for being overworked and doing the job of 2 people leading to your mistake?

I'm sorry you're in this situation.
Thanks for this!

Give yourself a break. You are working terribly long hours. Why don't they hire another person anyway. I think you are tired and you are blaming yourself. Nobody has said anything to you about the mistake you have made. Take care of yourself as you are pushing yourslf way too hard. I work 8 hours a day and I think that is more than enough.

It is actually quite hard to sack someone in the UK if they have been on the job for a while. Keep good records of all conversations in case you have to go to court: http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/englan...ts_at_work.htm

Also your hours are illegal under the European Working Time Directive. If you are sacked, again you can seek redress: The Working Time Regulations

It sounds like you are an asset to your job with all you are doing. Everyone makes mistakes when they are over worked. A similar thing happened to my mum recently.
I hope your feeling better. Keep us posted.

Hi guys

Thank you so much for the support

My boss didn't reply cause she was too busy...(or so she said) but anyway, it's fine, she told me not to worry about it and again thanked me for all the extra I'm doing.

I worked 9 shifts in 7 days last week and it's exhausting me. I work from home for an agency and basically organise...hmm lets call them 'events' So yeah I am basically on the phone all day and emailing. I don't get ta chance to take a break either and it really is tiring but I am so busy and the commission is keeping me going!

We are investing some money to progress a small business down south next year so the extra money will really help us!

I haven't even had time to come here which I really need as a release I am now nearly finished another double shift and it's quiet so thought I'd catch up here

Thanks again for your support
