New diagnoses

Hey guys..just got outta IP today and I always known I was bipolar 1 but the added BPD and GAD to it..I just feel overwhelmed..I know I got bipolar from dad but BPD..how and y do that happen and tell me what you guys go thru..my drs have me off meds till something I'm not allergic to comes out..do BPD ppl take meds? What ones?

Hi...I am new also to the diagnosis of BPD...It seems there are no meds to treat BPD itself but meds to treat symptoms like depression and anxiety etc. Good luck

BPD is actually new to me too, 4life. But I do know that there's no one cause of the disorder: it could be a variety of things. From emotional estrangement when younger, or genetic, or anything else, different things contribute to it. Also, there aren't any medicines specifically for BPD, but DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) is considered one of the most effective treatments... I hope this helps!

Just replying to your thread to let you know our dx are very similar (although sure our symptoms will be different as we are all unique individuals)
