Quite likely . don't let "it" or "them" define you.

Many of "them" are full of ****

My parents hated me too, or if they didn't, they sure didn't appreciate me or treat me with care or respect

I was engaged to an abuser, I met him at university. He abused me verbally, emotionally, sexually and physically. I thought I didn't deserve better, but I did, and do... And so do you

I'm sure I've read the article here at one stage and I love it!

It's so true and I can personally identify with alot of what you have written.

So good to read from a point of view where I feel that someone just "gets" me without even knowing me, even though our symptoms are all so different there's definitely commonality that resonates true with me.

I'm sorry that you are having struggles in relationships at present.

Unfortunately this does swing as a pendulum.

I hope that you are able to find a sense of comfort soon

Hi Blue Whiskey, Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. As Hooligan said, it does swing like a pendulum and sometimes things can be great one minute and the next all is lost. I have experienced this more times than I care to remember. I am only newly diagnosed and not very happy with it but learning more about it as best I can. I really love this article too as it's written by someone who understands BPD and appreciates the good qualities that we have rather than focusing on the negative all the time like I have seen in tons of literature that I've been reading on this disorder. I lost everything many times over and never understood why. I'm still kind of at a loss as to why I have this PD but I suppose it's better knowing that I have 'something' rather than continuing to ask myself 'what's wrong with me?' I hope you feel better soon.

I'm another who likes your article, especially the part where Dr. Kristi Web says "What therapist wouldn't want to work with folks like that?" My new therapist said almost those exact same words the second time I met her.

I'm part of a group who is attempting to remove the stigma associated with BPD. In this country we still have a long way to go, but things are slowly turning.
