When I talked to my t about how everything online anout bpd says we're horrible, mean abd manipulative people that no one wants to treat or deal with she said what you find on the internet will usually always be negative.

She's really nice and assured me I'm not those things. Yes I have hallmark symptoms of bpd but I'm not a monster. I, of course, have loads to work on. Made me feel a little better though.

Maybe she's just being nice but she seemed sincere.

Well not all things are, there is also a bunch of YouTube channels for people with bpd. Stay away from "bpd survivor" and family member pages. They tend to be full of horror stories. Mostly people who themselves don't treat borderlines very well and so find themselves on the mad as hell side of their bpd friend or family member. That's my take on it anyhow.

So much on the 'net is sensationalized! I'd take the hyped up stories as just that...

I had a really really hard time accepting the dx bc of an former t. I told her they dxd it me after three times ip at same hospital. She told me they were wrong and that bpd was more like my evil abysive step mother.

That really upset me bc i never want anything to be like her!! But now I know it's not true and well...the dx really does fit me. My current t is super nice to me and I like her. We're gonna do a mindfulness book. I'm in DBT but she thinks this extra book "yoga and mindfulness" might be beneficial to me.

Mindfulness can do wonders. I've tried yoga but it's hard on some of my joints but can see it being helpful.

Sounds like you have a good t now.

I recently graduated from mindfulness, and I really miss it actually. I do keep reminders in my bedroom & I look at them very often. I also have a textbook that I've been working through with my T.

I wish you the best ~ I can see the yoga adding a lot of stress relief too!

Manipulation is an a criterion or symptom of BPD. It's about being emotionally unstable. Some people are manipulative, regardless of wether they have the BPD diagnosis or not. Manipulation involves critical thinking. BPD sufferers often do knee-jerk reaction things that look like manipulation. Trust your education therapist, not misinformed society.
