I have no idea where to place this topic, because there wasn't a category that really made sense. But it might have to do with being bipolar and borderline. Trying to figure that out.
People think I'm 20 years old. Some think I'm even 18. I'll be turning 30 in May. It isn't just my appearance, people say its my personality and the way I act. My interests. How I carry myself. My psychotic break happened when I was 24. I was a zombie for 4 years. Now I've regained myself and its like I'm stuck at age 24 because I never matured or evolved. Or do borderlines often act that way? I have no idea. Because everyone remarks on how amazingly mature I am, yet I act like a 20 year old? How does that work? I don't get it. Is this something I should be concerned about? My mom told me she hates my personality and how childlike I am. I mean I really can't help it. This is how I am. I wasn't able to grow for 4 years because of meds and my illness. Its like I was frozen in time. I want to be a normal adult.

I have no idea if this is a BPD or bipolar thing, but I can say from my own experience that many people think I'm 13 or 14 based off of both my appearance, voice, and child-like tendencies, while still considering me mature. Girls my own age (I'm 20) typically think of me as a kid. At age 13 my life got completely flipped upside down from a traumatic event involving abandonment. So I guess, kind of like what you were saying about being a zombie for 4 years, I "got stuck in time" at age 13. Maybe it's a PTSD thing and because we're borderline it affects us much greater than other people. Just a guess

Try not to over think what others think of you, unfortunately we can't control what others think . I would try to take it as a compliment. If their saying that you are mature, then you can't be childish. Maybe you just look young and that's definaty not a bad thing. I know its easy to over think things and worry about it but your fine how you are , we are all unique. You are special

I'm so glad we're guessing in the same directions! And have something similar. I don't feel like such an odd ball anymore.
I've just been saying I'm a combination of Tony Stark and Marlyn Monroe to help myself feel better. LOL. Who doesn't want to be told they seem to be 20 when they're on the verge of turning 30? That has got to be a gift from a higher power, right? I still dress like a college student. Mostly in men's clothes with a touch of alternative.
