A personality "disorder" doesn't exist in a vacuum. But our personalities seem to be especially, extremely consistent, like it's fixed, stable, necessarily so, given some basic characteristics. That's probably why it is so extremely difficult to change. It can be learned to be controlled, but it's hopelessly difficult to change.
Ironically, of course, it doesn't appear consistent, predictable or reliable to many. But they are wrong. What I like about my personality is how reliable it makes me, paradoxically. I like the self-reliance/independence (even though it has a lot to do with a lack of acceptance) and authenticity. I also like how it's so complicated and paradoxical. We might feel bored but that's not because we are boring. It's exactly because we are so interesting that everything else looks boring, arguably, in a way. ![]() What do you like about your personality?

When my son was writing his essay for his college application, they said to write it so that if it was found on the floor of the school, everybody would know it was yours. Our personalities are easily identifiable!
I like that I bring people out of their shells. People open up to me. I am very inclusive and make people feel welcomed.

Really great topic. (You should have this moved to the General Mental Health forum or the Coffee House so more people will see it.)
I'm pretty stubborn. That's probably why I'm still alive and didn't bump myself off long ago. ![]() Also, I'm ADD which is supposedly a disorder and I don't agree with this. People like me are very non-linear (creative) thinkers, and all innovation has come about from non-linear thinking. The thing is, most strengths are also weaknesses, depending on the context, and the reverse is often true, many weaknesses can also be strengths. --Ceara1010

I like that I'm empathetic.
I also think the world generally sucks the big one, its filled with misery and lack of caring from other people. My desire to help others so that they don't feel it is one of the few traits about myself that I genuinely like. If I can ease the suffering of anyone I would and will. |
