I used to take three kinds of meds but with advise from my pdoc I have now stopped taking them. I didn't feel like they did anything for me. I know there isn't a med for BPD but I did take them for over 10 years. I gained weight with them and it was one of the reasons why I wanted to stop them

Since being off them I still feel the same as when I was on them. I just wish I could shift some of this weight. I am going to start a diet soon so hopefully that will work.

So do you take meds?

I do not take meds. I did for quite some time.. this is no longer an option.

Good luck with weight shifting, it will be easier without meds

I take an antidepressant and an antipsychotic and they do help me be calmer than I otherwise would be. I just stopped a mood stabilizer.

But if you're able to get by without them, that's great!

Chamomile and honey tea soothes my brain.

I quit on major caffeine intake.

As of now, I absolutely refuse to start any sort of medication; partly because I want to avoid any side-effects (thanks to my mom conditioning me about that), partly because "I can do this on my own". And partly because, if I end up stabilizing, maybe I won't feel like, me, anymore. Not that there's really a good sense of that to begin with, but I'm sure everyone has that moment when they're scared to shake off the habitual.

I'm just sticking with DBT for now and seeing how well I can regulate myself with just that. Though I could at least try herbal teas or something, I'll try and remember to look into that later.

My therapist said "there is no medication for this". In the same time my GP wanted to give me antidepressants for my depression which I refused partly because I usually had bad side effects from them and if I'm suicidal they make it easier to act on it. But I didn't tell this to her. Though lately I'm wondering if I shoud take them.

I'm using natural stuff like Valerian and Passion Flower but I'm sometimes taking too much and combining with alcohol. Not so well lately.

I don't take meds for BPD specifically. But with comorbid conditions (depression, anxiety) I did. Now I take meds for bipolar and anxiety, and use DBT to handle the borderline bit.

I take lamotrigine for my moodswings, I can not say that it's helping. I don't see any clear difference in my behavior yet...
