I was recently talking to a friend of mine, and I told her;
"I feel like I am one of three people at any given moment. Someone who thinks about myself and the way I think in a negative way, someone who always thinks of themselves in a positive way, and someone who never thinks about themselves, and is just living life AS themselves. I like 2/3, but only one of them s truly living." Has anybody else just... Wanted to stop thinking about themselves and just BE themselves? I used to be this... I dont know what happened... Is there any way to undo this? To become me again? |

Mindfullness might help. I'm meditating daily now. The idea is to let the thoughts and emotions come and go while realizing they are but clouds in the sky, passing by, not defining us. Our Self is the blue sky above the clouds, sometimes unseen, but never truly one with the clouds. As such, I train to keep the sky blue, and accept the clouds as they are, but not as defining or anihilating me.

Oh yeah!!! Thats a really good way of thinking of it!!! Im going to try to do something like that in the future. Meditating has always been kinda hard for me. Its hard for me not to think about my own thoughts, without shaming myself that I "didnt meditate right"!
Its worth another shot though!

I'm using an app called Headspace. They provide guided meditations, which is helping me, as I am a beginner too. They also guide you through those invalidating thoughts and feelings.
For instance, they say to let the thoughts and feelings come and go, to notice them, to identify them as thoughts and feelings and then to softly returning your focus to breathing. There's no shame to drifting off, that's the nature of things.

I used to want someone else to be, just to let me rest for a while. But then i realized i dont want someone elses problems, and certainly not their brain.
