Hi, I take "plaquenil" every am 400mg for sjogrens, a connective tissue disease(autoimmune) often connected to RA. I am surprised you are not taking it. Without it my joints are all I can think about. It works wonders for me. I also take flexeril, an OLD antidepressant which is used primarily now as a muscle relaxer, this is VERY helpful for my clenched muscles. I also take 2-4mg of dilaudid (hydromorphone) which I cannot be without or I end up in the hospital b/c of pain(where I was originally prescribed dilaudid/now my neurologist prescribes). It is a narcotic thou, and I hate taking it, it is stronger than morphine, and yes it definitely works...I am allergic to morphine. Lyrica helped A LOT, but I gained 40 lbs, cymbalta i take for depression but doesnt help fibro. Hope this helps

The best pain medicine is whatever works for you. That's why doctors give antidepressants (elavil) for pain etc., they've found connections. That's why some find easing with advil and others need narcotics, and some can't take methadone but can take morphine. You just have to keep trying, and keep good records of what kind of pain and what you tried and how it worked -- or didn't. Good wishes.
