There is that saying that God doesn't give one any more than they can handle.......
I think God forgot that rule when he made me.

Between severe Bipolar I and inoperable herniated disks and sacroilitus, I don't feel much hope. The back conditions are both going to get worse as I age and I am already walking with a cane. I don't want to wind up in a Jazzie.

I dont want to keep taking all these medications for Bipolar that make me so sick.

I dont want to die but living is just a chore, daily, without reprieve, only to be tolerated

I dont usually whine but WHHHHAAAAAAA!

Well, I think as to whether or not we agree at the time is dependent upon whether we are "handling it" well or not. We can cope well, or cope poorly. Whining is probably not well?

Get out of the pity pit. Allow yourself to be in pain, rest, accept that right now your main purpose is to ease the pain.

Pain humbles me. I'm working on being humble without it.

what makes your herniated disks inoperable? I have never heard of that before. Unless it's just that the other medication you're on or something isn't good for you going under anesthesia. Are you in physical therapy for the disc and SI problems? if not, they can really help.

Yes, I am in physical therapy, go to a chiropractor three times per week, walk moderately, tread water every day and receive steroid injections under fluoroscopy on a regular basis. I have consulted with three neurosurgeons and they are all in agreement that the surgical intervention presents more risks (in my case) than warrants the desired benefits. Finally, I decline narcotic therapy as I understand that it exacerbates depression enough that due to my BP1, it would be a foolish decision. I use a tens unit regularly and live on ice packs but learned that I package of frozen peas holds the cold longer.

Thank you for your concern and suggestions.

And thanks to all for allowing me to whine. Today I am working on being more positive (as I usually tend to be) in the face of adversity. So, I keep going, even when I would rather crawl under the covers, ask for help when I am having trouble and do all that I can to live in the solution rather than the problem.
Thanks for this!

I think surgical answers result in more issues for most people...at least that's what I find when I speak to those who've had surgery. Most don't turn out better for the effort (and time, energy, money and pain.)

I know we have to whine at times, well maybe we don't have to, but it happens often before we're aware? ("We" being those who manage chronic pain.) The important part is that we do get to where you are, thinking more positively and assuading the pain somewhat with how we think.

Yet, I had to be reminded (thank God for my pain mgmt T) that today, tonight, I need to focus on my sympathetic nerve pain and address it with proper strategies for overcoming it, and not feeding it to make it worse.

Hope you have a better night.
