I am new here and I wanted to share my struggle in the hopes that someone may have similar challenges
I have scoliosis which has caused me to have multiple surgeries and left me with rods running the length of my back and a rod connecting the back of the top of my hip bones. I have chronic pain and nerve damage in my right foot. This has increased my depression and anxiety. I found out last week that I have to have repeat surgery on my foot that didn't heal from a surgery I had in Aug of this year. I just feel like I am captive and a slave to my own body. As I write this I don't want to sound like I am complaining. I just wanted to explain my situation. What do others do when you become overwhelmed with this type of situation of pain and limited mobility? Help! Thanks Tuti ![]() |

I'm thinking that it's good that you can come to this forum to explain your experience. To know that there are some of us who have had the experience of pain that won't leave. In my own case, it was the development of severe headaches that just would not go away, even though I went to a pain clinic, had injections all over my head, etc. It seemed like nothing worked, and it seemed like nobody really uinderstood. I had to finally accept that the headaches would not leave, and not let them control my life. So, even with those headaches, I carried on with my university and completed a degree. After many years, there was some improvement with a bit less severity of the headaches. Often - quiet and some rest helps for a while, but stress will bring them on again. I hope that you can find some relief for your own pain, even positive thoughts about things that you can still control and achieve, even with the pain. All the best for your treatments and/or surgeries. It's a good idea to do some research about various medications that are used for pain, and research the different types of pain. I do hope that you feel improved.

Bless your heart -- I'm sorry you've had such problems!! I can't imagine having a rod the length of my spine!
I've had several spine surgeries myself, and am now disabled due to them. Chronic pain is exhausting! I've dealt with this for more than 25 years now, and it's gotten pretty tiresome! LOL Please know that I'll keep you in my prayers. I hope this next surgery is the LAST that you'll have to endure. God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee |

I can't even try to understand the pysical pain u have to endure. All I can say is a prayer for u and may God release u from this pain. Mine on the other hand sounds pathetic, because mine is bipolar. I am the one causing the emotional pain.
