I've been a chronic painer for MANY years, and have had 3 spine surgeries. I went to my doc today for my refills, and I asked him how come i was still in SO much darn pain, cause I read the last MRI and it sure didn't look THAT bad.

Well, he said I have FIBRO. Why in the heck didn't he tell me this a long time ago?? Of course I guess i could have asked him, but it seems he should have TOLD me, don't you think? NUTS!

All this time I've wondered why I've been in such horrible pain. Doggone it! Oh well. I'd like to say something else, but I don't talk like that. $%#$$@%

Hugs, Lee

That is weird that he didn't mention that diagnosis before. I'd be tempted, if I were you, to get a second opinion. Maybe if you do have it, another look can be taken at your pain meds.

If you don't mind my asking, how and where are you hurting?

Payne ~ The pain is all in the upper back to my toes. But honestly, I know how to read the MRI reports, and they don't look bad AT ALL. There are just post-surgical changes i.e. drying out of the discs which will NOT cause this much pain, mild stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal) and really that's about it! Nothing suggests I should have pain like this.

He's given me as high a dose as he dares in meds, and like he said toda, he doesn't want to kill me, but he doesn't realize that I'm very HARD to treat! I've only been with him for about 3 yrs. and I wasn't with him thru the surgeries when I woke up on the surgical table all 3 times during surgery under GENERAL anesthesia! They have to give me enough to kill a horse! LOL

Oh well. Basically just venting here. Just ticks me off he never told me about having Fibro a while ago! Grrrrrrrrr. Thanks all. Hugs, Lee

that is really unfair that you weren't told this. I would be quite angry too. I myself am in an awful lot of pain since my back surgery, recovery seems so slow…looks like the nerve damage in my leg is permanent. Worse off now.

Once again, I wish your doc had told you but at least now you know. I guess
